On Monday, the whole school were out and about around the grounds, looking for Maths in our environment. Every class tried out a trail, and are now designing their own.
Here are some highlights from Year 5 and 6 - we hope the trails will be available for classes to try out by the end of the week!

Year 5/6 are inspired by Johnny!
On Monday morning, Year 5 and 6 joined St Denys Primary School at Chamberlyne Secondary School to hear an inspiring lecture by TV personality and mathematician extraordinaire Johnny Ball.
He demonstrated everything from Fibonacci to Newton's Law, and showed us just how Maths affects our everyday lives.
Look out for more photos and information in this weeks Daily Echo!

Hampshire Games experience
Twelve children from Bitterne Manor were selected to represent Southampton in gymnastics at the annual Hampshire games in Aldershot. There was an exciting opening ceremony with steal bands, then the children were coached to the gymnastics and trampolining venue to perform their floor and vault routines. Our children came 5th overall. Well done to all.

Visiting the Mayor's Parlour
Here are some pictures of the School Council's visit to the Mayor's Parlour in the Civic Centre, Southampton. We were very kindly hosted by the newly appointed Sheriff of Southampton, Linda Norris and one of her Town Sergeants, Alan. The visit is a fascinating look at Southampton's traditions and history and we always learn something new about the city each time we visit.
