Beautiful textile work from kestrels...

Kestrels have completed their final DT project - making memory cushion covers. They have demonstrated superb sewing skills appliquing the front of their cushions and then enjoyed getting friends to sign the backs of them as a memento of their time at BMPS.  😍

kestrels masterchef class!

Last term in DT, Kestrels enjoyed learning all about the differences between processed and wholefoods and today had a great time making either Ratatouille with orzo pasta or Lentil curry and rice. They showed fantastic skills; peeling, chopping and grating and worked together really well. The end results smelt and tasted delicious!

Kestrels have a 'soup-er' day!

Kestrels had a great day today learning all about healthy wholefoods and the advantages and disadvantages of processed v homemade. They all enjoyed making their own wholemeal bread rolls and vegetable soup. They learned important skills including, peeling, chopping and kneading and collaboratively produced a meal that smelled delicious! 😋

Seasonal Cooking with Kestrels

In DT, Kestrels have been learning all about seasonal foods and healthy, balanced diets, so today they made seasonal meals from scratch.

One group made their own orzo pasta and added seasonal vegetables and even herbs grown in our very own herb garden; one group made their own wholemeal pitta bread and filled it with a variety of food groups and seasonal veg and the last group made carrot, celery and coriander soup, along with their own wholemeal bread!

We were seriously impressed with their skills and the food looked and smelt fantastic - let's hope it tasted as good as it looked when they got it home!

Tent building

Today Kestrels were challenged to build a tent using limited resources.  They practised their measuring, cutting and joining skills; were resilient and showed great cooperative skills and were (for the most part) very successful!  See what you think...

Dengineers!

In Kestrel class we have been reading a book called 'Way Home'.  In the story we see a shelter/den that the main character has built.  We used this as a starting point for designing our own 'dream' dens.  There were lots of fabulous creations from football dens, to gymnastic and ballet dens; hairdresser dens and treetop hideouts.  Here are just a few....
