The Year 6 classroom was buzzing yesterday after school as parents came to buy Christmas decorations and gifts. The sale continued this morning as children from across the school visited our 'shop'. The hard work Year 6 put into the project really paid off as we raised a record amount for activities later in the year! A huge well done to everyone and a big thank you to everyone who bought items.

Christmas Dinner Time!
It was a super Christmas Dinner today! Our compliments to the chef on the food and even though we are a healthy school - the choice of puddings was brilliant.
Though are we sure having Christmas parties in KS2 this afternoon is a good idea after all that food? We'll see!

Christingle 2011
Our Christingle service was held at the Church of the Ascension again this year. We would like to thank Rev Graham for hosting us and leading part of the service. Thanks to all those parents and helpers who supported us and helped us get to the church on time! Well done Reception class for their lovely nativity.
A Good Christmas With Many Outstanding Features!
Here we all are performing our Christmas production to parents. The show was in two parts with KS1 and Reception performing a series of songs about preparing for Christmas and KS2 presenting a version of the nativity as if a certain news channel had got hold of the story. We hope you enjoyed it! By the way, the title of our school Christmas production this year is a reference to our 'glowing' Ofsted Report.

Year 5 Carbon Footprint Exhibition!
On Monday, Year 5 invited parents to come and share our fantastic homework projects. We had designed and invented creations to make Bitterne Manor Primary School a more eco-friendly environment. Before the parents arrived, we shared our inventions with each other and each gave a speech about our invention. Here are a few pictures of us in action!

Grandparents Show!
We were delighted to be joined by so many of our Grandparents and other local residents for the dress rehearsal of this year's Christmas Show. It was a chance for the children to shine in front of a captive audience and they made us extremely proud. Many of the visitors passed on their congratulations and thanks for inviting them to such an entertaining show.
Well done to Mrs Longley and her team for the mince pies and other refreshments that were provided during the break!

Market Research
Year 6 had a trip to Haskins to carry out some important market research for their upcoming Christmas Craft Fair. The children have now been hard at work creating a range of Christmas goodies and will be selling them to pupils and parents this coming Thursday! We can't wait!
'Manor Dreams' Opens...
Year 2 opened their restaurant, 'Manor Dreams' to some very enthusiastic and hungry customers last week. The children had prepared a range of sandwiches and cakes and customers (their parents!) were shown to their seats and had their orders taken. Moments later, they were served all sorts of lovely things to eat! All the children had a role in running the event and did brilliantly - what a shame it was just for one night!

Chelsea football
Last week we were very lucky to have Chelsea coaches come to teach football skills to years 2,4,5 and 6. All the children got stuck in and thoroughly enjoyed the experience.
Year 1 take Barnaby Bear to Bitterne!
Year 1 went to Bitterne to show Barnaby Bear the shops and found out what they each sell. We also looked at old and new buildings and different signs. We then completed transport and people tally charts. Many of us found that there were lots more women shopping! Thank you very much to the parents who helped us despite the very cold winds! Well done Year 1.

Year 3 in Australia!
Year 3 have travelled on an exhilarating journey to the Great Barrier Reef in Australia! With flippers on and dressed appropriately for our surroundings we all explored our new environment. As a class we are all very proud of our collage which hangs outside our classroom and our ceiling of sea creatures.
Journeys Mural
Artist Steve Porter returned to school today to work with the children on our new hall mural. The mural is based on journeys the children have been on in class during our creative arts and everybody writes projects. Have alook and see if you can guess where they have been!
