Snowdon Challenge for Sean!
We are very proud of Sean in Year 5 who has managed to get to the top of Snowdon! Snowdon is the highest mountain in England and Wales at over 1000 metres above sea level and Sean started walking every Sunday in January to get his legs ready for walking up the mountain in the summer.
When he started the ascent, the mountain had just a little bit of cloud kissing the top in the morning but by the time he had finished the cloud level was almost to the bottom! Sean and his family were lucky to have got to the top because a lot of people leaving just after were told to go back. The cafĂ© at the top kept putting out announcements that they might have to evacuate and close up if the weather got any worse…. There were gusts of 67 miles an hour winds at the top after just after they left!
It was a tough challenge and they did it - taking the challenging Pyg Track up and the steep Miners Track back. A total of 11km in 5-6 hours. According to his mum, Sean was like a mountain goat most of the way most of the way up the mountain but did get a bit grumpy on the way back. Very well done and congratulations on your great achievement.

Southampton Remembers ... Titanic Parade
Children from Year 2 and 3 (and their families) were excited to attend the Southampton Remembers Titanic Parade this week. It was a great event to show respect for the crew members, most of whom came from Southampton, who lost their lives when the Titanic sank in April 1912.

Year 2 have worked so hard on their homework projects. These were put together to create a Florence Nightingale museum. The exhibits included a video clip, a portrait of Florence, the Order of Merit she received, some lamps, models of her pets, information about her life, a battle scene of the Crimean War and a Florence model. There were posters, pieces of writing, artwork, creative ideas and information packs. Well done Year 2. It was very impressive.

Grandparents Show!
We were delighted to be joined by so many of our Grandparents and other local residents for the dress rehearsal of this year's Christmas Show. It was a chance for the children to shine in front of a captive audience and they made us extremely proud. Many of the visitors passed on their congratulations and thanks for inviting them to such an entertaining show.
Well done to Mrs Longley and her team for the mince pies and other refreshments that were provided during the break!
