Lunchtime Disruption
Some of you may be aware that our normal lunchtime service has been disrupted for the last few days. Children's actual meals and choices have not been affected in any way but we have been forced to serve all hot dinners on paper plates and use disposable cutlery for the week. This is until some unexpected repairs have been completed to the floor in the kitchen area. For reasons unknown to us, the tiles covering the floor decided to lift up at the start of term! We have been obliged to remove all the equipment in the area for repairs to the floor to be carried out which means staff can't store, wash or clean anything hence the disposable plates and cutlery. We're hoping that this is resolved quickly and we can get back to normal! In the meantime, we're ensuring lunches are being delivered as usual and apologise to those children, particularly our older pupils, who are rightly concerned about the amount of plastic that is being thrown away and the impact on the environment!

Christmas Dinner
It was Christmas Dinner day yesterday and the staff and children enjoyed sitting together and enjoying their meal. It was also a chance to design, make and wear some very special hats!

Tyre Park visitors
Last week School Council Representatives from St. Monica Infant School visited us to have a look at our Tyre Park as they are thinking of getting one at their school.
Some of our own school councillors greeted the visitors and showed them what fun we have on our Tyre Park!
They swapped ideas about the types of games that can be enjoyed on the tyres and our councillors were able to explain how we use a rota to share the fun equally between classes!

Lunchtimes just got even better!
The children have made the most of their first couple of days in the Learning Garden.
Adam: "I love the new Learning Garden Mrs Mellor!I was playing snakes and ladders and went down a really long snake right near the end of the game!"
Year 6 girls: "It's great as we have somewhere to hang out with our friends and chat!"

Christmas Dinner Time!
It was a super Christmas Dinner today! Our compliments to the chef on the food and even though we are a healthy school - the choice of puddings was brilliant.
Though are we sure having Christmas parties in KS2 this afternoon is a good idea after all that food? We'll see!

Sports Day
Sports Day 2011 was a great success! All the children took part in teams representing Challengers, Freedom, Victory and Stars.

Each team took part in a round-robin of events to test their skills and their ability to work together. There was huge enthusiasm and everyone had fun taking part.

After the excitement of the class races everyone settled down for a picnic on the school field.

And the winner was...FREEDOM! For the second year running, the trophy was awarded to the captains of Freedom. Well done to everyone who took part and who came to support.

New Parasols!
We would like to thank the PTA for our wonderful new parasols. These now give us better shade outside for quiet work spaces and picnic lunches.
