Harvest Festival

Thank you so much for all the kind donations to our Harvest collection.  We were able to provide City Mission with an abundance of food and toiletries, to support families in the city who need it.  The children thoroughly enjoyed their assembly this morning with Charis from City Mission.

Sky Diving Appeal!

We hope everyone is having a great half-term. It is now just over 4 weeks until Miss Head throws herself out of a plane to raise money for our school!

The staff have clubbed together to provide the parachute but she also needs all your support. Please, please, donate if you can and share the link below via social media. She and we would very much appreciate it!

She is currently on £715.00 but we would love to push this total to even greater heights - so to speak!

Thank you!

Skydiving Fundraiser

Please support Kat who has agreed to do a 15,000 foot skydive to rasie money for our school!

You can find her page and offer your support by following this link!

"Bitterne Manor Primary school is a caring and nurturing school that educates a variety of children from all different cultures and backgrounds. My eldest child attended Bitterne Manor and I have worked there for 6 years. Our children at Bitterne Manor love to be outside, particularly as many of them live in flats and don't have access to outside areas readily. I want to raise funds through skydiving 15,000ft on Saturday 3rd July to help develop our year R outside learning space. This has not been done for over 15 years and it is now very tired and needs updating with purposeful equipment that enables them to develop physically and mentally. It would be fantastic to raise enough funds to have a bike track painted, a climbing wall put in and be able to properly zone areas and resource these with more up to date and relevant equipment so the children get the most out of their time here."

Food Parcels

As a school we are only too aware of how challenging it is for many families at this difficult time, but food poverty can cause further distress.  Therefore, we were thrilled to receive a donation from FareShare on Friday, which allowed us to offer a food parcel to some of our school community.  We are hoping we may receive further donations in the future so if you are struggling currently and would like to be considered for a food parcel, if these become available, please do not hesitate to contact us.

Sikh Toy Appeal

I am very proud to share these pictures of our pupils volunteering with members of the Sikh community who participated in a charity event on the weekend. The Sikh Toy Appeal aims to raise awareness and gift children during the festive period. There will be a number of children who may not receive a gift this Christmas which is the focus of the appeal.

The appeal recieved very many contributions over the weekend surpassed expectations and lots of children will receive a gift this Christmas. Both Anand (in the suit) and Arvinder were available to help (keeping Covid safe and adhered to all safety precautions put in place) raise money and enduring the challenge of wearing the lion mask in the spirit of the appeal. Impressive dedication and tenacity! Jamie Carragher (ex Liverpool FC) is a supporter of the charity and aparently liked a picture of our appeal effort in Southampton on Instagram.

Apparently, the boys will again be helping next weekend with the aim of feeding over 100 people. The purpose of which is to promote giving during this time of year. Well done to them and the whole Sikh community for their good work supporting those in need.

Christmas Complete Charity Appeal

We have some families who have expressed a desire to help others, who may be struggling during these challenging times.  Therefore, we have been in contact with Scratch - a local charity who are coordinating Christmas gifts for children in Southampton.  Further information on the charity and how to donate to this excellent cause can be found by clicking on the attached link.  As a school, we are also able to refer families so please do talk to us if this is something your family could benefit from:

A huge thank you!

Thank you so much for the huge contribution of food and toiletries for our Harvest Festival today.  I think we have been able to donate even more this year than last year, to City Mission.  They will be collecting all the stock tomorrow morning, which will then be distributed to families across the city who need it.  For such a small school, our contribution is one of the largest they receive and that is all thanks to the generosity of our school community. So thank you again!

A massive thank you!

City Mission came in to school this morning to lead our Harvest Assembly and collect  the food that has been so kindly donated by our school community.  They were overwhelmed by the amount that had been collected - over 800 items!  These will be shared people in our local area that are struggling currently.  Last year City Mission were able to support over 10,000 families and our donations will go towards feeding a huge number again this year -  so once again a massive thank you for your generosity!

Who could that crow be?!

Children in Need

This was the perfect culmination to our Anti-bullying Week.

The children spent the morning doing some role plays with each other, trying to emulate the difficulties that some children with disabilities may face when they want to play with other. They found it particularly tricky trying to play with each other and not being able to talk as a form of communication, but, as always, they managed to find a solution to this and devised their own ways of getting each other's attention.

In the afternoon, we focuses on developing our Fine Motor Skills further, by making our own set of Pudsey ears. they wrapped and wound with wool and the glued the ears on at the end. And don't they look wonderful?!

In a week where we have been acknowledging and celebrating our difference, I have, once more, seen the class develop further as a team, with their friendships growing stronger every day!

Everest Challenge!

Earlier today the children took part in an 'Everest Challenge' run by the PTA.  All children completed the challenge to the best of their ability and had so much FUN! This event was set and organised in order to continue to raise funds for the school library renovations and the PTA.  So please ensure that your children return their sponsor forms and money as quickly as possible.  A HUGE thanks to the Sports Solent staff and in particular, Lia Chance and Hannah Craggs.  Without giving up their whole day to support the event our children would not have had such a great experience.  Thank you!  Here are some pictures showing just how much fun was had...
