Phonics fun!

What better way to start the week than with a fun phonics lesson outside?

Robins were using the parachute to listen to the sounds within words. If it is your sound, are you ready to run under the parachute?

Owls, Owl poems.

Year 5 Owls have been busy making their own poetry.

The picture below shows off these super cool Owls Poems :)

Playground Maths!

This morning, Robins ditched the Maths books and opted to do their Maths lesson outside!

We used chalk to write our number bonds and then found objects to represent those numbers! It was so much fun to use the playground as our paper and the results were FAB!

Jays have been chatting to an archaeologist!

 Good Afternoon,

In History this half term, Jays have been learning all about The Maya. It got us thinking about how we know so much about the past. With this in mind, we created a list of questions and had a long chat with Professor John Schofield (Miss Schofield's dad!) via zoom.

We learnt about the expensive artefacts he found, the newest artefacts, the oldest artefacts and how his career has taken him all over the world. He even told us about the time he was supposed to be guarding a neanderthal's tooth (which was set to be filmed for Blue Peter) and a robin hopped into the tent and flew away with it! We learnt that archaeology is happening all around us every day so at playtime we had a little scout of our surroundings to find things which had been dropped or left and tried to piece together the story behind it.

Miss Schofield was also really proud of the quality of our questions and also how respectfully we listened to the speaker.

There is also a Southampton branch of the Young Archaeologists' Club, who meet up every month and discuss all things archaeology. The link is here for anyone who is interested: https://www.yac-uk.org/

Well done, Jays!

Robins Autumn Hunt!

Robins have been looking at the seasons in their science lessons this half term. Today we went on an Autumn hunt to see what different signs we could see that we are in Autumn!

We had a checklist in hand and off we went for a walk around the school grounds to see what we could find....

Kestrels tackle cyberbullying

This week in Kestrel class, as part of Anti-bullying week, we have been thinking about the effects of cyberbullying and what to do about it if we (or a friend) find ourselves in a situation where we are being bullied online.  Below are just a few of the super posters the children created (using their IT skills) to spread the message of how to deal with online bullying.

A very big welcome to our Ducklings!

We are all now very pleased to become part of the school and so we would like to introduce you to Ducklings!

Ducklings have been very busy completing lots of fun and exciting activities during our 'All About Me', 'Colours' and 'Shape' topics. These have included lots of listening games, sensory activities and messy play, shape and number activities, role-play and outdoor games!

Please take a look at our pictures!
