Our School's Learning Environment

I took time out this morning to have a walk around our school and look at the fantastic learning which is up on display. There is a real sense of pride and achievement in the work the children are producing; lots of examples of 'learning to be the best we can' at Bitterne Manor Primary School! Well done everyone!

Celebration Assembly at Bitterne Manor

Sporting achievements and trophies won by Bitterne Manor children were presented and celebrated in Assembly today. The Young Sports Ambassadors also presented the winner of the YSA cap design competition her very own cap! A great big thank you to Solent Sport who had the caps made in the winning design. These will be worn by the YSAs during duties and sports events at school.

'Hands on' with role-play in Year R!

In Year R, we are focusing on team building and imagination through 'hands on' role-play, where the children will help us to make the role-play, decide where to put the props and work together to act as characters and create stories.

The first role-play that the children decided to build was a 'Superhero Training' area. The children are working together to exercise and learn new skills!

Year R enjoy working as a team with Year 2 and 6!

We have launched our 'hands' learning value! We are focusing on working as part of a team through effective communication. We have enjoyed playing team games with Year 2 and Year 6. In the pictures you can see us playing 'animal farm' where the same farm animals must find each other making just their animal noise! We challenged ourselves by wearing blindfolds!

We look forward to working together each week to complete a range of team building activities!

Last chance to collect Sainsbury's vouchers

Active Kids vouchers are only available in store or online at Sainsbury's until Tuesday 5 May 2015. So please keep collecting for us in the final few weeks if you can. Also make sure you round up all of the vouchers you've got at home, in the car or in bags and send them to us so that we can get counting. Thanks!

Hands on learning in year's R, 2 and 6

We have been learning how to use our hands in our learning today, by completing some team building challenges together.   We had to work as a team and communicate well to win each competition. A real hands-on day!

Transport in Year R!

We have been very busy in Year R learning all about different types of vehicles! We enjoyed looking at the staff vehicles in our school car park, we thought carefully about the different parts and what they are used for! We then designed our own and we made them using a range of materials!
We also talked about road safety and we put this into place by learning how to be very safe on a scooter.
Following on from our World Book days, many more of us are now choosing to read independently! We very much enjoy exploring a new book each week and the children help us to choose which books to put in our book corner.

Zany Zebras at Marwell

Most of us will remember all the amazing Rhinos appearing around the town in 2013 and what a great idea that was. Marwell  Zoo have announced that some 'Zany Zebras' will now be appearing in the Summer of 2016. Bitterne Manor will be supporting the project and we are very excited! For more details head over to the Marwell Zoo website here.

Easter Egg Hunt!

This afternoon the children completed their Easter egg hunt challenges. Year 6 were the overall winners but fun was had by all! At the end of the day all children will go home with a treat. Thank you to Mrs Peterson, Mrs Carey and Mrs Meddings for organising.
