SUPER Swifts LOVE Marwell!
The SUPER Swift class had a very fun day at Marwell Zoo today. I've never seen them so excited! We have been learning all about Africa and different animals in Science this half term so this was the perfect opportunity to help children to apply everything that they knew and ask the questions that they wanted answering. The 'All about Animals' workshop helped children to do this in particular! Here, the class learnt about the different animals situated in Africa and their special features. They asked lots of questions and learnt lots. I think the best part was when a REAL SNAKE was shown to the children giving them a chance to see one up close! It was amazing to watch as each and everyone of them were in awe. Exploring the Zoo was just as fun as we managed to dart from one animal to another. The Giraffes in particular were a huge favourite as were the Penguins. All in all, it's been a very exciting day and hopefully one that children won't forget for a while. I think it's safe to say that they will definitely be sleeping well tonight...

Kingfishers visit Hawthorns Wildlife Centre!
Kingfishers have had a very busy day today learning even more facts about minibeasts! We spent the day taking part in lots of different activities including becoming squirrels and hiding our seeds to try and find later, searching for different coloured woolly caterpillars, a centipede walk and a bug hunt!
We had great fun being out and about and learning new facts! Well done Kingfishers!

Ahoy there!
The SUPER Swift class visited the Seacity museum on Friday and had an absolute blast! Upon arriving we were greeted by our friendly tour guide who outlined what he had planned for us.
First, we encountered a workshop where we learnt vital facts about the passengers on board the Titanic. Some of us even got the chance to dress up in the wonderful outfits! Did you know that one of the lookouts was called Freddie? Then, we explored the different objects that the Titanic would have been carrying, experimented how much water was needed to sink the ship and decided on who should have been saved based on the information given. I think a personal favourite was the 'smell' test! Children had to sniff a box and decide which room it belonged to on the Titanic. Some of the children's facial expressions were epic!
Afterwards, we were taken on a terrific tour around the museum. Here, we found out information about the ship and the passengers. It was sad to see so many passengers lost at sea but nice that they are still remembered today. A couple of the children had long lost relatives so we searched for their names on the huge wall! Children loved the last room which had a map on the floor. They searched for where they lived and saw whether someone who boarded the Titanic lived on the same street as them. We even found our school road!
Finally, we ended our amazing day with a wonder around the museum in our groups. We played some of the games on display and re-visited areas from the tour. It was a great day! Everyone learnt lots :)
I can't wait to see how children use what they now know when they continue their learning about the topic in class!
Take a sneak peek of what they got up to below...
