Swifts send food to the MOON!
Super Swifts are currently learning all about Space. In particular we are looking at Bob, the Man on the MOON! Part of our Science topic is looking at the suitability of materials. We have worked hard at identifying properties of certain materials and the suitability of them. So when Bob sent a letter asking for help on which foods would last the journey to the Moon we happily obliged. We investigated lots of packaging and thought about which ones would be the most suitable packages! It was a very exciting lesson...

SUPER Swifts LOVE Marwell!
The SUPER Swift class had a very fun day at Marwell Zoo today. I've never seen them so excited! We have been learning all about Africa and different animals in Science this half term so this was the perfect opportunity to help children to apply everything that they knew and ask the questions that they wanted answering. The 'All about Animals' workshop helped children to do this in particular! Here, the class learnt about the different animals situated in Africa and their special features. They asked lots of questions and learnt lots. I think the best part was when a REAL SNAKE was shown to the children giving them a chance to see one up close! It was amazing to watch as each and everyone of them were in awe. Exploring the Zoo was just as fun as we managed to dart from one animal to another. The Giraffes in particular were a huge favourite as were the Penguins. All in all, it's been a very exciting day and hopefully one that children won't forget for a while. I think it's safe to say that they will definitely be sleeping well tonight...

Swifts set sail on the RMS TITANIC!
WOW! What an exciting morning it's been for the SUPER Swift class today! They boarded the RMS Titanic and my did they have a great time. Each child pulled out a 1st, 2nd or 3rd class ticket from Captain Sangha and swiftly made their way to the ship! Upon arrival they were in awe of what was in store for them. They enjoyed a wonderful feast (some more than others) and took part in the entertainment put on by the team. Each child thoroughly took part in every part of the experience which helped them to then write about it! I can't wait to see what they have written...

SUPER Swifts SOAR!
What a day it has been for the Swift class today! As they walked through the gates in their creative costumes they noticed something peculiar...a SPACESHIP! It had landed on the school grounds and clearly needed the help of the Swift class to uncover why! Most importantly though, who the spaceship belonged to. Through lots of investigating and hard work they found out that it belonged to a little alien called Beegu. Beegu had crash landed onto Earth and needed help getting back home. Swifts jumped at this chance and made it their mission to help her. We will continue our mission throughout the week so watch this space!

SUPER Swifts LOVE measuring!
This week, Swifts have been learning about measures, length in particular! We started off the week by estimating length using non-standard resources (Multi-link and paperclips) Miss Sangha posed us with an investigation where we had to estimate how many cubes and paperclips the length of a foot was. Once we made a sensible guess, we measured the length using the resources. It was very interesting and a lot of our guesses were correct! This then allowed us to move onto using a ruler. We created our own golden rules to help us!

SUPER SWIFTS LOVE SCIENCE!
Guess what? Today, the SUPER SWIFT class were given the task of creating a micro-habitat for a chosen mini-beast! The mini-beasts were... woodlouse, worm, shield bug, slug/snail, spider and a lady bird. They thought carefully about the shelter of their homes and the environment around it. It was FUN! Take a sneak peak at what they created below...
