Chocolate Enterprise Day.

Yesterday, Year 4 participated in a Chocolate Enterprise Day. They worked in small groups and created their own company and identifiable logos. After this, they designed a brand new chocolate bar! They had to think carefully about the flavours they wanted to include as well as designing an eye catching wrapper. Later, they designed fantastic advertisement campaigns including poster, billboards and even live TV adverts! They had budgets to stick to and calculated how much all of this would cost to produce.

This afternoon, the groups practiced their pitches and presented to the judging panel who then chose their favorite groups ideas. The winning groups will be making their chocolate bars for the rest of the class to try at the end of the week.

Postcard from Kestrels at PGL

Kestrels have arrived safely and settled in at PGL. It's very cold but sunny and the view towards Portland looks amazing! We'll keep you posted if we get any more details. They'll be enjoying their breakfast and getting on with their first activities as I write this.

Skylarks ARGHHHHH the best pirate crew around!

Ahoy Matey!

Well what an exciting day Skylarks have had! A sea of glinting gold jewelry, black pirate hats and eye patches, Skylarks were ready to board Bitterne Manor. They became the ship mates of Captain Miss Wyatt and Captain Miss Bradley! Yo ho ho... what a day we had in store for them!

The pesky pirates began their day by turning themselves into their own mischievous pirate characters! They used their incredible outfits as inspiration for their own pirate drawings. The ship mates used their fantastic attention to detail, from their striped black tops to their bandannas and boots to create their excellent drawings!

We then used these drawings in the afternoon to create wanted posters of the ship mates themselves! Their use of pirate dialogue in their posters really showed off their enthusiasm towards our new topic. Shiver me timbers, their character descriptions were absolutely fantastic!

Below are some of the mischievous ship mates showing off their best pirate impressions!

Letters everywhere!

It has been fantastic to see the children getting excited about the letters they have learnt so far.  Some have been finding objects and bringing them to me, tell me the sound for that object, others have been writing letters anywhere they can!  Great stuff Kingfishers!

The Library Bus!

Today we had a visit from the library bus!  Some of the children were very excited to get on the bus to choose books for our upcoming topics.

Welcome aboard the Nightingales!

Bitterne Manor has been taken over by pirates! Today the Nightingales docked at Bitterne Manor and Magnificent Nightingales transformed into a ship full of fierce and crazy pirates!
