Bunting Winners!

 

Congratulatioins to the winners of our bunting competition who were announced this afternoon. Entries were judged by pupils and the winners all received a prize in assembly this afternoon. All the bunting is now on display in our school entrance and looks brilliant - thanks and well done to all those that took part! 

Christmas Hampers

 

Thank you all for generous donations today in support of our PTA Christmas Hamper Raffle. The PTA team have put together a fantastic 29 hampers this morning - pictured here - and they look amazing. Raffle tickets are on sale now and the draw will take place on the 16th December, next Thursday morning. So make sure you get your tickets for a chance to win! Many thanks!

Merry Christmas from the SUPER Swifts!

The Swift class have been absolutely AMAZING this term! The team and I are so proud of their efforts and could not have asked for more. You have all been outstanding learners! 

The festivities leading up to Christmas have been very exciting, especially with our elf causing all sorts of havoc. As today was his last day in our class, he decided to wrap something special that belonged to the Swifts and they had to earn it back...it was a challenge indeed! Luckily, they managed it!

Kestrels enjoyed their Christmas lunch!

 Christmas lunch arrangements had to be a little different this year, but Kestrels said the food was really yummy....even the sprouts!  We enjoyed the Bitterne Manor tradition of making Christmas hats and singing along to some Christmas tunes and playing a few games! 

Hamper Raffle Draw!

 

We held our 'virtual' Hamper Raffle Draw today with all the children watching on screen in their classrooms. Children from each class bubble then came down in turns to draw a ticket. Congratulations to the winners who have all been notified of their win! Thanks to our PTA for organising the event and to everyone who donated and bought lots of tickets to support us.

Sikh Toy Appeal

I am very proud to share these pictures of our pupils volunteering with members of the Sikh community who participated in a charity event on the weekend. The Sikh Toy Appeal aims to raise awareness and gift children during the festive period. There will be a number of children who may not receive a gift this Christmas which is the focus of the appeal.

The appeal recieved very many contributions over the weekend surpassed expectations and lots of children will receive a gift this Christmas. Both Anand (in the suit) and Arvinder were available to help (keeping Covid safe and adhered to all safety precautions put in place) raise money and enduring the challenge of wearing the lion mask in the spirit of the appeal. Impressive dedication and tenacity! Jamie Carragher (ex Liverpool FC) is a supporter of the charity and aparently liked a picture of our appeal effort in Southampton on Instagram.

Apparently, the boys will again be helping next weekend with the aim of feeding over 100 people. The purpose of which is to promote giving during this time of year. Well done to them and the whole Sikh community for their good work supporting those in need.

 

Christmas Hamper Prizes

Thanks for all your fabulous donations which have been put together by our PTA to make these 30 fantastic hampers. Our raffle draw is on the last Friday of term so there is plenty of time to buy a ticket for your chance to win one (or more!) of these lovely hampers! Please ask in the office for more tickets if you need them.

Rocking around the Christmas Tree...

 This year Mr Adams asked the KS1 children to decorate the school Christmas Tree. We love a bit of sparkle down our end of the school so we jumped at the chance to do this! Both classes thoroughly enjoyed this and got into the Christmas spirit. I must say, both Robins and Swifts did an excellent job decorating the tree and made it feel a lot more festive in our school. Well done!

Christmas Complete Charity Appeal

We have some families who have expressed a desire to help others, who may be struggling during these challenging times.  Therefore, we have been in contact with Scratch - a local charity who are coordinating Christmas gifts for children in Southampton.  Further information on the charity and how to donate to this excellent cause can be found by clicking on the attached link.  As a school, we are also able to refer families so please do talk to us if this is something your family could benefit from:

Church Service

Thanks to those of you who attended and supported our Church service at the Ascension in Bitterne on Monday. Our pupils sang and read brilliantly, of course, and it was a lovely moment of reflection around Christmas in the perfect of settings. Thanks to the Revs Will and Andy, and their team, for hosting us.

Kingfishers perform a fantastic Nativity!!

We are SO proud of Kingfishers for their amazing singing and acting during our Christmas performances! They have worked so hard this term, well done Kingfishers!

Boggle Box!

We really hope you all enjoyed the show! The children and staff did an amazing job putting it together and enjoyed sharing it with you.

Wednesday afternoon's show was filmed by Matt Willsher and will shortly be available for download for a small charge: all of which will go to the PTA as he has given his time for free. Thanks very much to him and his team! We will be sharing details of how to get hold of it by parent mail shortly.

I'd also like to gently remind parents that not everyone wishes pictures of their children to be shared on social media - this is very difficult when doing ensemble productions but be mindful of tagging or naming other people's children out of respect for their wishes.

SUPER Swifts SMASH their first Christmas performance!

The SUPER Swift class performed their first show yesterday along with the rest of the school.  They did brilliantly and sang their hearts out!  We can't wait for everyone to see our part.  We've worked so hard on our performance and will try to DAZZLE all :)
