Year 4 are showing off their amazing time capsules that they created as part of their homework project. Each has objects inside that are important to them. After the capsule is buried, far in the future, someone will learn all about us!

Year R at Hawthorns

Year R enjoyed their trip to Hawthorns.
They took part in a number of activities such as pretending to be squirrels hiding their food, acting as birds looking for 'wool' caterpillars and a mini-beast hunt. The class found out about camouflage, how to use mini-beast classification keys and what it must be like to be a centipede.
Year R really should be congratulated on their behaviour. I would also like to thank all those parents who came along and helped- you are great!

Year 6 SATs
We would like to say how proud we are of our Year 6 children. Their attitude towards their SATs was exemplary. Everyone tried their best. The SATs are only a very small part of our assessment process in year 6, they provide a snap shot in time. We have very strong Teacher Assessment evidence based on all of the work children have done during year 6 and this is our preferred way of assessing children.
We hope year 6 will enjoy their trip to Itchen Valley on Monday as a reward for all of their hard work!

Year 4 Visit the Roman Palace
We hope you enjoy looking at the pictures of our trip to Fishbourne Roman Palace, near Chichester. We certainly enjoyed the experience, as you can see, of finding out about this amazing piece of our past. We learnt a lot from seeing these Roman remains first hand and being trainee archaeologists! We would especially like to thank Mr Tanner and Mrs Longley for their help supporting our trip.
Year 3 garden update
Mayor Making

The former Sheriff of Southampton, Councillor Carol Cunio was elected today, Wednesday May 12, as the 788th Mayor of Southampton, a role for which records go back to 1217. She has taken over from the former Mayor, Councillor Elizabeth Mizon.
Our School was represented at the ceremony, which took place at the Guildhall, by two of our school councillors.

Photos from Fairweather
Year three visited Fairweather's learning garden in Beaulieu recently. We learnt how to be good gardeners and had fun watering the plants (and eachother!), mulching paths and snipping broccoli to sample.
Get Recycling!
The School Council would like to get everyone to recycle more! We collected a bag of rubbish from around our school and took it to Hedge End recycling depot to see what could be recycled. We were met by the manager, Chris Macdonald, who showed us where all our rubbish could be put in the right place. His site is the most successful of 26 recycling depots in Hampshire and has a record 85% recycling rate. He reckons that people could do a lot more to recycle their rubbish even if it did mean putting him out of a job! Enjoy the pictures of us looking round and recycling our rubbish!
Parent Helper Request!
Year 4 would really appreciate a volunteer to support our trip to Fishbourne Roman Palace! Please join us for a really exciting day! The trip is this Thursday.
Year 3 current events
Watch this space because year 3 are working on articles of recent events such as trips and growing potatoes.
