A 'storming' World Book Day in Kestrels!

Kestrels have had a great day getting immersed in our class text 'Stormbreaker'.  We have focused on settings, in particular the villain's lair and wrote our own setting descriptions.  We made comparisons between our text and 'Dr No' by Ian Fleming and also looked at a graphic novel version of Stormbreaker.  This led to us having a go at producing our own page for a graphic novel, which was challenging!
We also loved having a chance to buddy up with Kingfishers this afternoon and share some of our favourite texts from when we were in Year R.  Another great World Book Day!

Instruction learning.

Today in english we have begun learning all about instructions. To help us to know what makes a good set of instructions we talked Mrs Carter through how to make a jam sandwich. We went wrong a little but got there in the end.

Kestrels get caught reading on World Book Day!

Kestrels had a great time last week celebrating World Book Day.  We enjoyed getting to know some of the Greek myths and spent time creating our own story maps to help us verbally retell them.  We also had fun dressing up, taking part in quizzes and sharing our favourite books with Finches class.  Thank you to parents for all the support with costumes!

Spy training!

Kestrels have enjoyed a great day today at Spy Training HQ.  All trainee agents created undercover identities for themselves and had their ability to memorise false data tested.  Who would blow their cover?  Answer....none!  They were all remarkably good at lying!!  All agents also undertook a mission to retrieve an object of importance to MI6 (pictures of blueprints, evil villains and top secret files....) from around the school.  This was achieved by using their code-cracking skills, teamwork and powers of observation!  This proved quite a challenge for some of our agents but I am proud to report they all rose to it....watch out MI6 we may have found you some future recruits!

Robins book days !

We've had a busy few days in Robins. We've created our own story model of the Gingerbread Man, read outside in unusual places and have been on a treasure hunt. We've also said a big goodbye to Mrs Vaux and wished her good luck on having her baby.
