Outstanding Owls

This week, Owl’s have been working really hard to turn their narrative stories from other cultures into beautiful picture books. A lot of time and effort has gone in to making these books look amazing and all the children are looking forward to reading them to year 1 tomorrow morning! https://drive.google.com/uc?export=view&id=1FiJmFgunVuXx6OwpWMsATvU5-Gy_tLrj

KS1 children love DRAMA!

Today was a very special day for the younger children who were visited by a drama expert.  Sam, aka a special superhero, delivered a fun workshop to Kingfishers, Robins and Swifts.  She had the children hooked with her special music device and props.  Their mission was to help planet Earth through drama activities and taught children about the importance of recycling!  Your child has gone home with an information leaflet about the organisation and what they do.  Feel free to explore further by contacting the organisation directly :)

Take a sneak peak of what your child got up to today...

Rewards for kindness

In robins we are learning to be respectful and kind to our friends. We can earn marbles when we are seen at break and lunch time being respectful to those around us. We can also earn leaves in the classroom when we do things that are kind to others. This can be to the environment, each other or the adults.  When we earn 5 marbles we get 5 minutes extra playtime.  When we help the tree to bloom we will earn a special treat. Ask your child how many leaves and marbles we have earnt today.

Bon Voyage Miss Cole

As the whole school were together this morning, it was the perfect opportunity to wish Miss Cole well on her travels, before she leaves us tomorrow.  Miss Cole is looking forward to her amazing trip to New Zealand but will be greatly missed by all the staff and children at Bitterne Manor.  Good luck Miss Cole!

Robins Dance Day!

Wow! What great dancers we have in Robins class.  Today we were split into different groups. Some of us were robots while others were a jack in the box, spinning top and puppets. Can you guess from the pictures who was who?

Beep Beep!

In our Design technology lessons we have been leading up to building a moving toy car. The first stage in this process was to find out what a car looks like and needs to be able to move. We then moved onto designing our toy car. We worked in partners and listed the equipment that we would need and drew a template. Finally we got to the fun part, making and decorating our cars. Take a look at our pictures.

Welcome to Robins

Robins have had a great start to the year, it was a fantastic first day! Miss Cole enjoyed hearing about our summer holidays and was so shocked by all the  amazing homework projects. Our room looks a little bit different to how we remember it but now we have a new reading corner.  During the day we had a discussion about what makes a great classmate, we then used these ideas to make a set of classroom rules and signed it with our handprints.  We took some funny photos for our new display 'our future's are so birght we have to wear shades.'

Visit from a bee keeper

Today Robins had a visit from a bee keeper. We were very interested and had lots of questions. We found out what a bee looks like, where a bee lives, what type of honey bees there are and how they make their honey. We were able to look at the honey on frames, spin the honey in the extractor and even taste it. We had such a lovely afternoon and now have lots of information to put in our writing next week.
