Pond Renovation
Our pond area has received a much needed renovation and repair - thanks to these volunteers from Southampton University who gave up their time in extremely hot weather to support us. We found several frogs and newts in the process who will hopefully appreciate the tidy up.

Plant Revamp!
Some of you may have already been admiring the new plants in our main corridor. If you haven't already noticed, please pause and admire the recent renovation and restoration of this lovely feature of our school. This is thanks to one of our parents, Mrs D'Arcy, who happens to have a professional interest in plants. She has given up her expert time to get this bit of our school looking really fabulous once more!

Year R visited Hawthorns Wildlife Centre

On Friday Year R visited Hawthorns at Southampton Common.
We took part in a variety of activities including taking on the role of squirrels and hiding 'nuts', acting as birds looking for different coloured caterpillars, mini-beast hunting, finding brass rubbings and using the activity rooms.
We had a fantastic time. Year R were very well behaved. Well done Year R. Thank you to those parents who came and helped us.

Green Spaces!
Green Week is proving to be a chance for pupils to get out and about and take an active part in improving their environment! Here are Year 4 transforming their outside space into a garden with flowers and vegetables they've planted themselves. It looks really nice, too!

Hawthorns Urban Wildlife Centre
We welcomed Hawthorn Wildlife Centre's Ian Bailey to our school to talk to us about the biodiversity in our school grounds. Ian led groups of children in activities and discussions about recognising and respecting the living things that we share our school site with. We would also like to advertise a clean-up taking place this Saturday, 26th March, at Chessel Bay, from 10 till 2, that Ian is organising - for more details ring 02380671921.
