100% Attendance

Well done to the many pupils who received their 100% attendance awards today. All the pupils who managed this achievement were entered into a special prize draw which was won by Chiedza and Bethany. Both pupils received family tickets to Paultons theme park which were presented by the Mayor at a special event to celebrate 100% attendance. Sam and Odo the dogs (School Attendance Matters and Odd Days Off!) were also there!

Paultons Park

Year 6 had a super day at Paultons Park enjoying all the rides yesterday! The rapid river ride proved to be one of the most popular - possibly as it involved getting very wet?

Star Awards 2010

We are pleased to be able to recognise two of our pupils for their achievements at a city wide award ceremony held at St Mary's stadium. Here is a picture of Sam receiving a Star award for his outstanding contribution to Bitterne Manor Primary during his time with us. Danny was also awarded one in recognition of his bravery in contacting the emergency services when his parent had been injured. Both pupils received their award at the ceremony from the Mayor of Southampton.

Year R go on holiday

As part of our topic 'Sun, Sand and Sea' we had a holiday day in Year R. Not only did the children come to school in holiday clothes but also brought along their packed suitcases. They filled in booking forms and passports. The children experienced check in, security checks and passport control. They even travelled on an 'aeroplane'!

I would like to thank everyone who helped with the day.

School Crossing Pledge

We were joined by special visitors from the Council today: Dave Harrison, School Crossing Co-ordinator and our own Lollypop lady, Lyn. Dave led an assembly on keeping safe when crossing the roads and we all pledged to respect our School Crossing Patrol Officer by follwing the safe crossing rules:
  • Be polite
  • Don't run
  • Wait for the patrol's instructions
  • Dismount from bikes or scooters whilst crossing
We were presented with a special certificate which is on display in the office.

Governor Day in School

During our recent Book Week, we were delighted to welcome many of our governors into school to see what we have been up to. The governors were able to talk to the children to find out about the impact of our "Power of Reading" Project in school. Several of them were brave enough to join us in our fancy dress book character costumes! Thanks to them all for giving up their time.

The Green Team

The Green Team have been out and about in the school grounds looking for litter - they were shocked to find some as you can see! They are going to challenge the school to be litter free this week and have some special prizes for those children they see being Greener and keeping the school cleaner!

National Sports Week

We ended our week of sports events with a whole school aerobics session held on the school field. Schools across the country were doing the same to mark National Sports Week.

Year R's trip to the library!

As part of book week Year R visited Cobbett Road Library. We enjoyed finding out how to use the different sections in the Library and found lots of books on our topic. Already many of us use this library but hopefully, now we have seen what there is to offer, all of us will!
