Writers' Day!

Today was a very exciting day for some of our pupils from Bitterne Manor Primary School.  Children from Year 3 and Year 4 were lucky enough to take part in a Writers' workshop at another school! It was led by one of the UK's leading children's authors, Matt Whyman.  Matt has been running workshops in schools for many years now and our pupils gained a great deal from working with him throughout the day.  Their writing is AMAZING! This will be published and put on display for everyone to see :) We are immensely proud of them!

KS1 children love DRAMA!

Today was a very special day for the younger children who were visited by a drama expert.  Sam, aka a special superhero, delivered a fun workshop to Kingfishers, Robins and Swifts.  She had the children hooked with her special music device and props.  Their mission was to help planet Earth through drama activities and taught children about the importance of recycling!  Your child has gone home with an information leaflet about the organisation and what they do.  Feel free to explore further by contacting the organisation directly :)

Swifts learn about visual impairment!

This afternoon, the SUPER SWIFT class were visited by 'Southampton Sight’ a sight awareness organisation.  These lovely people taught us about people who are visually impaired.  We carried out three activities which helped us to understand more about eyesight.  The activities were: wearing different glasses and imagining what it felt like to have a visual impairment.  We had a go at reading braille too.  Outside we had a go at walking with a white cane.  Did you know that there are two different types of canes? Ask me about it! It felt very weird but fun! Finally, there was a feely bag which had objects in and we had to guess what the objects were without looking!  We learnt so much! The visitors were so impressed.  They gave us a wrist band as a token of appreciation so we can spread the word :)
