Welcome ROCKING Robins!

Today was the ROCKING Robins Class of 2024-2025 first day and they were amazing πŸ™‚ It was so lovely seeing them all today and wanting to be the best that they can be.

The Robins class started the day by telling each other what they did over the holidays. They were very excited to share their news with me. They continued the morning getting use to the new routines in year 1 and explored their new classroom. I introduced them to a fun school rules and class rules game where they learnt new actions to match some of them. The three that we focused on were the school rules: be safe, be respectful and be ready (see if they can show you the actions to match these)

Next, we looked at what it meant to be kindπŸ’—We completed a 'jelly bean' template each with a compliment word on it. These will be on display for us to use daily for each other.

Then, I asked what type of teacher the Robins class would like me to be. They came up with some really cool answers. I will try to be each of these things and more!

Lastly, we spent the afternoon with some rainbow time 🌈 This was a fab chance for me to get to know each Robin a little bit more but for them to also play with their peers. It was so lovely to watch πŸ˜ƒ

I have lots of fun tasks planned for the next couple of days and can't wait to get to know each and every one of the Robins class more. It's been a really awesome start to the year.

To my Rocking Robin parents, please keep an eye on your MarvMe app as I'll be sending through lots of messages and updates to keep you all posted. You can also access the Robins class page here too -  https://www.bitternemanor.co.uk/robins-2/ for further information on Year 1.

ROCKING Robins first day!

The new ROCKING Robins class of 2023-2024 have been utterly amazing today! They have thoroughly enjoyed their first day back activities and been absolute stars ⭐

We started the day by exploring our new classroom and going through new rules and routines. We then went through the school rules - 'Be Ready, Be Respectful and Be Safe.' Miss Sangha taught us actions to go with these too. Ask me about these!

We spent time thinking about our learning value for this half term which is the 'Heart' and ways to show kindness to one another πŸ’— We shared examples and wrote them on a jelly bean template where Miss Sangha will make a display out of it!

We have been active too and did some just dances, Miss Sangha and Mrs Baird joined in with us. It was fun!

The afternoon was spent doing rainbow time so we got to play with our friends. It's been a really fabulous first day back.

Here's a sneak peak...

Roll on tomorrow 😊

SUPER Swifts soar on their first day!

The SUPER Swift class have had a wonderful first day back.  Children began their day by getting to grips with their new classroom. They then completed a 'compliment' card for a peer in their class showing how sweet they can be!  Thinking about the term ahead I asked children to think about a wish, which in turn would enable them to develop over the half term.  They were lovely! The new Swifties have slipped into the Year 2 expectations amazingly and completed tasks to the best of their ability.  We can't wait to see them grow over this exciting year.

Go Swifts!

Skylarks ARGHHHHH the best pirate crew around!

Ahoy Matey!

Well what an exciting day Skylarks have had! A sea of glinting gold jewelry, black pirate hats and eye patches, Skylarks were ready to board Bitterne Manor. They became the ship mates of Captain Miss Wyatt and Captain Miss Bradley! Yo ho ho... what a day we had in store for them!

The pesky pirates began their day by turning themselves into their own mischievous pirate characters! They used their incredible outfits as inspiration for their own pirate drawings. The ship mates used their fantastic attention to detail, from their striped black tops to their bandannas and boots to create their excellent drawings!

We then used these drawings in the afternoon to create wanted posters of the ship mates themselves! Their use of pirate dialogue in their posters really showed off their enthusiasm towards our new topic. Shiver me timbers, their character descriptions were absolutely fantastic!

Below are some of the mischievous ship mates showing off their best pirate impressions!

Welcome to the new Rockin' Robins

So today was the first day in year 1.  It has been a brilliant start.  We have talked as a class about our learning values and behaviors, we have created hands to show how we are all unique and individual as well as learning where everything is within our classroom. Take a look at some of the photos from today, we are all very tired but can't wait to do it all again tomorrow.
