The results are now in for the recent Southampton Schools Athletics Championships and Swimming Gala.  All of the children that competed in both events made us proud but the following deserve a special mention....

Southampton Schools Athletics Championships - 22 schools competing

- Joe Finn, 3rd in High Jump

- Kimberley Adjei, 5th in Long Jump

- Jayden Ansa-Otu, 4th in 80m

- Hubert Cegielka, 3rd in 400m

- Millie Cowdrey, Ellie Niziolek, Kinberley Adjei and Poppy Chance,  5th in 4x100 relay

Southampton Schools Swimming Gala - 9 schools competing

- Lola McNeil, 2nd in 25m Backstroke

- Ellie Niziolek, 2nd in 25m Breaststroke & 1st in 25m Freestyle

- Joe Finn, 2nd in 25m Breaststroke

- Isobelle Brown, Ellie Niziolek, Amber Burman-Hughes, 3rd in Medley Relay

- Lola McNeil, Ellen Sear, Isabelle Weaver, 2nd in Medley Relay

- Amber Stipic, Isabelle Weaver, Lola McNeil, 3rd in freestyle Relay

Our girls team also achieved second place overall!

Awesome Athletics Again!

After a competitive couple of weeks our Indoor Athletes prepared themselves for the finals.  Some excellent competition along the way and hard work provided some excellent results.

Held at Redbridge School Bitterne Manor Girls topped the table and the boys close behind with second place.  Overall this meant that in our half of the city we managed to place 2nd!!

An excellent achievement and lots of fun.

Awesome Athletes!

Awesome Athletes!  Year 5 and 6 children have completed a scorching indoor athletics competition at Woodlands school.  All schools from the east of the city were invited to compete.  The children took part in a variety of 6 different sprint and hurdling races.  They then had two field events each to complete, these ranged from chest pass and shot put, long jump, triple jump, balance and speed bounce.  We are eagerly awaiting the overall results, this will determine which schools we compete with in order to take on the west of the city in a weeks’ time. Amazing effort from all the boys and girls involved in our team of 12, all the events have been very physically demanding.  More pictures from the finals will be blogged.

Being Great Sports!

A great day had by all at the recent City Wide Athletics Championships. Special mention to Amber who made it through to the final of the girls 60m and to Maurice for winning the upper school long jump competition.
Bitterne Manor was also represented at the Southampton Schools swimming gala. We took part in some very competitive races across a variety of strokes. All children took part in the spirit of the event and did themselves proud.

City Athletics Events Order

For those parents attending the City Athletics competition today, we have been provided with the following running order. All times are approximate but we hope it might help if you are planning to visit.

County Athletics championships

Bitterne Manor is a small school with some BIG talents. Twelve children have been competing in local competitions to become worthy finalists. On Thursday our children represented the Southampton district in Hampshire County Athletic Championships competition. Within each category the children competed against 32 of the best children across Hampshire. We did very well, with some of our children coming 1st in their event and lots were placed in the top 10! Well done again to our amazing children and a personal thank you to the parent and also a helper from Solent who came with us on the day.

Year 5 have been independent in setting there own activities to beat their Personal best in Athletics skills.

Sports and PE at Bitterne Manor

So far, Autumn Term has been a busy term with football fixtures, gymnastics and athletics practises. Coaches have come in and we currently have football and dance coaches in during curriculum time, that's not to mention after school clubs and residential activities!
