PGL residential

Year 6 had a fantastic time on their residential last week! They got to experience a wide range of activities including: abseiling, quad biking, fencing, rifle shooting, climbing, archery and orienteering. Mrs Hemnell and Mrs O'Hara were very impressed with the determination and team work shown by the children. The wet weather didn't dampen spirits - it did mean there was plenty of mud to be found though!

Primary Science Fair

Our pupils from Year 6 attended the Primary Science Fair which was part of the Solent Skills Fest event held in Southampton. It was a fun packed day with loads of hands on activities for the children to take part in - including jelly bean towers, cocktail making (pretend ones!), a recycling challenge and using solar panels!

Intech Visit

Year 6 visited the hands on Science centre near Winchester - INTECH. The children really enjoyed the discovery section, pictured here, which included a music centre and an ideas for the future station! We also felt the planetarium show amazing!

Gardening time...

Here are Year 6 after they've just been giving their classroom garden a facelift as the Winter fast approaches. They've been planting as well so we should see some new life emerging in the Spring!

Meet our Elite Writing Force!

These boys are Bitterne Manor's very own Special Force! They are a team of writers who will be set secret missions each week. The boys must be armed at all times - with a pen! During this week's training we had great fun getting caught writing around the school.

Harvest Time

We would like to give a massive THANK YOU to everyone who donated to our harvest collection. All the food will be given to the Basics Bank, a charity that supports those in need in Southampton. The Southampton City Mission, who organise the charity, told us that the food they receive from schools at harvest time sustains their giving throughout the whole year. According to their statistics they provided people with 5 days food 4,660 times last year! Below is a picture of Chris, one of their representatives, leading today's assembly.
