Minibeast Hunt
Year R's new topic is 'Bugs'. We enjoyed hunting for bugs around the school grounds- and found a variety of different ones! We looked at them very carefully and drew and wrote about them. Many thanks to our student, Ellis, for all your help.
Year 5 athletics coaching
This week, Year 5 have had the opportunity to experience athletic coaching by four final year students from Solent University. Your Vouchers Needed!
Year 6 were hard at work this lunchtime counting the vouchers that you've donated to us. We've managed to collect over 3800 vouchers so far but we reckon that there's a few more thousand out there somewhere...
Please check bags, wallets, cars, grannies and the guinea pig for any Sainsbury's vouchers that might have been missed. We need them all by this Thursday!
Thanks for your support.

Hampshire Fire Service visit
Years 5 and 6 enjoyed a visit from the Fire Service. They learnt about the causes of fire by exploring a fire damaged room. They will now be checking their homes carefully for hazards! The children also discussed the consequences of peer pressure and the dangers of arson. It was a very thought provoking day for everyone.

The Bike Doctor at work!
Bitterne Manor had a visit from the 'Bike Doctor' this week. We invited pupils to bring in their bikes and scooters and to allow them to be checked for safety. The Bike Doctor - his real name is Tim - runs his own cycle repair shop in the area but also visits schools to support and encourage pupils and parents to get to school in a healthy and sustainable way. His visit coincided with the completion of our new scooter shelter and bike rack which will provide pupils with a sensible place to keep them.
We will also be encouraging pupils to follow our 'wheels code':
We will also be encouraging pupils to follow our 'wheels code':
Remember when you’re on wheels:
Wear
sensible clothes that can be seen
Have a
helmet
Examine your
bike/Scooter
Each time
you ride
Look, listen
and concentrate
& Stay Safe!
While we think getting to school on a bike and scooter is a great idea - remember that children have to know how to do that safely before they can do so. We will be offering bike training for pupils in Year 5 and 6 in the Autumn term.

Y4 get muddy at Fairthorne!
Despite the rain and mud (with the occasional glimpse of sunshine) Year 4 and their teachers had an awesome time at Fairthorne Manor. The children were so supportive of each other and we had opportunities to learn new skills, whether it be orienteering, team challenges, abseiling or rock/wall climbing. Well done Year 4, we were proud of you all!
