Music Celebration

Tuesday night was our annual celebration of all the musical talent at Bitterne Manor Primary School. This is the chance for pupils to share their musical prowess and entertain us all with what they've learnt over the last year. Thanks and well done to all those children who took part and we hope you continue to enjoy making music next year.

New Tennis equipment

Two teachers from Bitterne Manor went on a tennis training course, which meant the tennis foundation awarded the school with 2 brand new kits of tennis resources. Year 5 and 6 have enjoyed setting up the equipment and playing a few games. Maybe we will have an 'Andy Murray' in the making!

Bring on the Olympics

Some children from Bitterne Manor were lucky enough to watch Britains Olympic divers training session at the Quays. Pete Waterfield, Stacey Powell and Chris Mears took to the boards and amazed us with a display of acrobatic diving. They then took time to come and talk to the children and answer their questions.

Sports Week

Speedmark Challenge Every class took part in the speedmark challenge to see how fast they could shoot a football into a big inflatable goal. all the children showed good sportsmanship by cheering each other on. Sports Day What a fabulous day! Wednesday was Bitterne Manors annual sports day. Children, parents and teachers all got into the spirit of the competition, supporting their house teams, Victory, Challengers, Freedom and Stars. Parents turned up in full colours to support the children. This year we celebrated the Olympics with an opening ceremony, starting with a parade of house teams then assembled on the playground to sin 'SING' by Gary Barlow which was amazing. Freedom won the cup with 1895 points. Well Done!

Olympic Torch Bearer Visit

We were delighted to welcome our special visitor today who came to tell us all about how he was chosen to be an Olympic torch bearer. Matt inspired us all with his confidence and determination. He told the children how he aspires to be a Paralympian one day in his favourite sport - wheelchair basketball. Good luck Matt!

Year 1 are Superheroes!

Year 1 all looked very different when they came into school this week, they were lots of different superheroes! We spent the day finding out about different superheroes and special powers. We went on different missions including helping people who had fallen over, catching a giant and some robbers, rescuing sheep as well as saving a princess from a burning building. Year 1 had to think carefully about which powers to use and they had to write their own mission cards. We also had a Superhero themed PE lesson!
