Year 3 - Monet Art Day

Year 3 have been lucky enough to have local artist Iris Hill support and share their Monet Art day this week.

Taking focus on the work of Monet, Year 3 went on a creative journey through finger painting, mixing of colours, mood boards and  water colour techniques which led them to produce a gallery ready final piece!

Iris Hill was very impressed with the enthusiaium and talent within the class "This was a really  inspirational day which allowed the children to express their own ideas and develop their creative skills".

ALL work will be displayed in Year 3's Monet Gallery this Thursday between 3:00-4:30.

Everybody is welcome to share in this experience with Year 3.

School Election Day 2012

Today was Election day when pupils get to vote for their new school council. Candidates have been nominated over the last few weeks and have had chances to talk to their classmates about why they would make good school councillors. Today was decision day and the secret ballot has taken  place to elect two councillors from each class. By now the new school councillors will know who they are! Well done to all those candidates who stood for election this year.

Year 6 visit the NOC in Southampton

Year 6 were very lucky to get a chance to visit the National Oceanography Centre earlier this week. This was a chance to have a look at the incredible work that goes on there and also explore some ideas about our own carbon footprint. Pupils got to tour the centre, visit the aquariums and carry out work linked to the Eco-Schools project.

Football league

The football U 11s  mini league has begun.
On Thursday evening Bitterne Manor played three matches. Winning one, drawing one and had one loss.  The score lines were very close. This is promising to be a very tight league with another 4 games to go over the next few months.  The boys played really well, never giving up and playing together as a team.  Another event to be proud of.

Year 3 - Hands on Science

Year 3 have been out investigating what soil is made up of and designing soil experiments to test different types of soil.

We used white boards to note down everything we found in the soil as we got stuck in!

Don't worry no worms were harmed during this science lesson!

Year 3 Non-fiction research!

Year 3 have been working hard in teams to research different topics ready to create a report.

We have been looking at non-fiction texts and learning how to use features such as the content's page and the index to aid our research.

We are very good at working together in a team and enjoyed presenting our research to the rest of the class.

Our work is displayed outside our classroom so please pop in and see them if you can.

Year 3 Gymnastics!

Year 3 have been very fortunate to have a specialist gymnastics coach in to help with our PE lessons.

We have been learning about balance and key gym moves ready to put into a routine.

We all look forward to Tuesdays gym lessons!
