Today, Year 1 went to Cobbett Road Library. We spent some time looking at the different books that they had on offer and then we were read a story by one of the librarians! We had a lovely time and look forward to visiting the library again some time soon!

Chelsea Football Tournament success!
Bitterne Manor Year 4 football team had amazing success in the Chelsea tournament today, winning all the matches but 1 in their league. With six goals from Louis, our superstar striker and only 1 goal against us because of the strength of our amazing goalie! The team were positive throughout the group stage taking them to the final play offs. The top three teams have the chance of going to Chelsea football ground to play other school teams from all over the country.
We finished in the top three!!! Go Bitterne Manor!!! Well done boys!!!

Year 1 Car Museum!
Last week, year 1 made cars in their DT lessons. This week, they invited year R to come along to their car museum. Everyone in year 1 wrote captions to go alongside their cars this morning and they even made labels to wear as museum guides! Thank you also to the parents that came to see all of our creations this evening after school!

Lots of fun in Year R!
Year R have been very busy recently by taking part in many different activities! Please have a look at the pictures, which show us doing gym in PE and exploring the different areas inside and outside of the classroom. We also made the most of the rain by going on a welly walk, the children loved getting ready and splashing in the puddles!

Year 1 DT day!
Today, year 1 made toy cars using cardboard boxes, dowelling rods and wheels. They all learnt how to safely use a saw and some children even had the chance to use a hand drill! Everyone needed to think really hard about how to solve the various problems that arose during the morning and they worked really well as a team to help each other! We hope that parents will be able to spend some time admiring our handiwork at our car museum after school on Monday 15th October!

Year 3 - Monet Art Day
Year 3 have been lucky enough to have local artist Iris Hill support and share their Monet Art day this week.
Taking focus on the work of Monet, Year 3 went on a creative journey through finger painting, mixing of colours, mood boards and water colour techniques which led them to produce a gallery ready final piece!
Iris Hill was very impressed with the enthusiaium and talent within the class "This was a really inspirational day which allowed the children to express their own ideas and develop their creative skills".
ALL work will be displayed in Year 3's Monet Gallery this Thursday between 3:00-4:30.
Everybody is welcome to share in this experience with Year 3.

School Election Day 2012
Today was Election day when pupils get to vote for their new school council. Candidates have been nominated over the last few weeks and have had chances to talk to their classmates about why they would make good school councillors. Today was decision day and the secret ballot has taken place to elect two councillors from each class. By now the new school councillors will know who they are! Well done to all those candidates who stood for election this year.
