Legotastic...!

Thanks for all your donations of Lego bricks. Here's what the team did with them - created our school motto in glorious Lego 3D! We even managed a Lego version of the school badge.

Sebastian's Action Trust

Today we are supporting the charity, Sebastian's Action Trust, as part of a special day in memory of Lydia. We welcomed Stuart from the charity to our school  this morning to lead part of our assembly . Part of the money we raise today will go towards this good cause. For more information please head to www.sebastiansactiontrust.org.

The charity supports families of seriously-ill children from diagnosis, through treatment and beyond by listening and responding to their unmet needs. All families of seriously-ill children should be able to have quality time together to relax, recharge and rebuild, never having to face life alone. The charity has two aims:

  • Providing holidays in our purpose-built holiday home
They have built a holiday home for children with life-threatening or life-limiting illnesses, giving them the opportunity for a respite break with family and loved ones, in a purpose-built facility.
  • Providing support
To offer practical support for children with life-threatening or life-limiting illnesses and their families. Understanding that every family’s situation is unique and looking to meet their individual needs by giving meaningful assistance at critical times

Year 6 and the jellybean investigation

Year 6 have been learning maths through jellybeans! They applied their knowledge and skills to solve a wide range of problems based on the book 'How many jellybeans?' They used ratio and proportion, percentages, mass and time. They also calculated their height in jellybeans!

Year 6 love maths!

Year 6 love maths...especially when it involves ice-cream! The class created their own ice-cream parlour (cleverly named 'Sweet Dreams'). They worked as a team to calculate quantities and costs, carry out market research and promote their shop. They particularly enjoyed selling their products to children and parents!

Year 1 loved Maths Week!

We went on a measuring maths trail then made our own trails. We also measured, weighed and compared our fruit and vegetables. We set up our shop then sold the produce after school!

Year R have enjoyed Maths week!

Year R have been busy learning lots of Maths this week! We enjoyed following a Maths trail by looking at the pictures and then following the instructions to complete a Maths task. This then unlocked the secret code to reveal the treasure! Some children then took their parents on the trail!
We have had special MOOT Maths all week and the children have been brilliant at getting stuck into Maths jobs, including cutting shapes and making a picture, Maths games on the computer and snakes and ladders!
We have also been busy making price tags and setting up our pet shop. Well done Year R for deciding how much each should cost by measuring them! We had great fun selling (and then buying them!).
