Anti-Bullying Week

It is anti-bullying week and we started the week by thinking about what bullying is. Each class shared their definition of bullying. Key words/phrases were: continuous; every day; verbal; physical; hurts; sad; made to feel worthless; cyber; mean.

As a school we also talked about what 'anti' means; that actually it is about the choices we make that will help to stop bullying forever. We asked the children about what sort of friend they would like to be and that by respecting differences we can show that we are anti-bullying. This links with the theme this year of stopping bullying FOR ALL.

The children showed great empathy for one another and had a secure understanding of the different types of bullying. The children will have the chance this week to explore this in more detail.

Year 4 Kathakali Workshop

Hello everyone, we are Natasha and Hannah - this term’s editors for the class blog. Welcome to Year 4’s section of the blog.

We have been learning about Kathakali traditions and made some masks.

We made lots of fun and colourful masks and concentrated very hard on them.

The teacher was called VJ, he taught us some sign language. We learnt one sentence it was ‘I am angry because the strong wind destroyed my flowers.’
Once we came back from the workshop, Victoria and Natasha showed us a presentation they had made about Jehovah witnesses.       By Natasha & Hannah

Friday is Children In Need!

This Friday 14th November is the BBC Children in Need appeal. We are supporting the charity by asking all who can to come into school dressed as a hero and donate a £1 to a really good cause!

Learning Environment Walk

There are lots of fantastic displays up and around school sharing examples of the children's hard work. It is a pleasure to see examples of the children 'learning to be the the best we can'! Please take the opportunity when you come in for 'book look' on Monday 24th November 3.30-4.30pm, to have a look at the displays in your child's class and around the school. The displays reflect the PRIDE we have as a school in what our children achieve.

Fruit for Fun in Year 2!

Year 2 made models using different pieces of fruit today in order to write a set of instructions. We took pictures of each step so that we can sequence our instructions, and we thought about bossy verbs we can use in our writing. It was great fun!

SAM & ODO - Attendance Matters!

We welcomed our friends Sam (School Attendance Matters) and Odo (Odd Days Off) into our assembly today to remind us about the importance of school attendance. Watch out for them on our school gate for the morning in the very near future....!

New Sports Ambassadors

Congratulations to our new 'Sports Ambassador' team. They have been selected to promote sport both in and out of school, reward and celebrate the achievement of our pupils in sport and nominate monthly sporting champions!
