All about our angle eaters
This week we have been making angle eaters. Angle eaters are things that measure how large an angle is. Their mouths are exactly 90 degrees.
They can also measure obtuse angles (bigger than the mouth) and acute angles (smaller ones).

An obtuse angle is bigger than a right angle and an acute is smaller than a right angle.

An obtuse angle is bigger than a right angle and an acute is smaller than a right angle.
These are some of our angle eaters:

Book fayre comes to bitterne manor
All the children have had the chance to visit the book fayre today. It was lovely to see how excited the children became when faced with shelves of brand new books. They enjoyed talking about the books, telling me which ones they had and which books they'd like for Christmas. The book fayre will be here until tomorrow and if you cant make it, then you can order on line.

PE and Sports update at Bitterne Manor
Athletics
Bitterne Manor boys came first in all their events and the girls were in the top 4, winning some of their races during the qualifying rounds. Well done!
Gymnastics Festival
Year 3 and 4 children had the opportunity to perform a gymnastics display at the Southampton Amature Gymnastics Club. They then had the opportunity to have a go on the apparatus and equipment.
Hockey
On Friday, 13 children from Year 6 took part in an indoor Hockey tournament. Two teams battled it out in the group stages winning most games and coming second in both groups. Our teams had to face each other to play for 3rd and 4th place. Well done to both teams who showed team work and determination to play some quality Hockey.PE and Maths links
Year 4 were including division during a multi-skills activity game. 28 / 5 = 5 with 3 remainders.

Girls Maths Club
Some girls in Year 3 and 4 have been working hard at lunch time with Miss Blightman on their Maths. This week, they looked at the book '365 Penguins' by Jean-Luc Fromental. They solved problems about the penguins and worked out how to store, feed and look after an influx of penguins! Great fun.
Can you spot the mistake? We discussed this and corrected our own errors.

Super science in year 2
This afternoon Year 2 met two very friendly guinnea pigs; Daffodil and Spock, who belong to Mrs Peterson. As part of our "living and growing" unit, we learnt all about their basic needs -what they eat, where they live, how to keep them clean and much more! Some of us even got to have a cuddle! Thank you Mrs Peterson for letting us borrow them.

Great to open the gate this morning...
and welcome all the children who rode a bike or scooter to school for their 'biker's breakfast'! Great to see so many children getting involved AND when it was raining! A huge thank you to Mrs Rice for organising it and Mr Puckett for helping out too.
