Challenge complete...
Until the next one!! I completed my set challenge today! Even though I have been doing 10ks as part of my training, I have never ever run as part of a race. I was very nervous to begin with, but as the crowd started cheering and my children waved me on, I just thought this is what the training has been all for. Don't get me wrong, I'm not an Olympic athlete, but I never ever thought I could run 1 mile, let alone 6! I would like Y6 to remember this tomorrow... Their chance to show 'learning to be the best we can' because hard work does pay off. I am hoping I got my best time (personal best!) but the timings are not up yet...!!! And yes I have the run bug... New Forest 10k and The Great South run next (I think!!).

Year 3 Tie Dye- Step 1!
On Tuesday, we started our Tie Dye project as part of our 'Carnival' topic. We all brought in a t-shirt from home and were shown ways to tie up our t-shirt:
This is the spiral method:
The tiger stripe method:
We then secured them with elastic bands.
We chose our colours - we had 5 to chose from pink, blue, red, yellow and green. We had to be careful not to dye our clothes or the classroom! We then wrapped them up in clingfilm and left them overnight. We can't wait to see the results!!

A very "chocolaty" science experiment in year 2!
Year 2 have been learning about what happens to materials when thay are heated. Last week we toasted bread and found out that it is an "irreversible" change because we can't get the bread back. Today we heated chocolate until it melted and then cooled it again until it turned back into a solid. We found out that it was a "reversible" change. Another great science lesson from our student teacher Mr Drayton. I hope year 2 enjoyed eating the yummy chocolate too - I certainly enjoyed the leftovers!

Our School's Learning Environment
I took time out this morning to have a walk around our school and look at the fantastic learning which is up on display. There is a real sense of pride and achievement in the work the children are producing; lots of examples of 'learning to be the best we can' at Bitterne Manor Primary School! Well done everyone!
Celebration Assembly at Bitterne Manor
Sporting achievements and trophies won by Bitterne Manor children were presented and celebrated in Assembly today. The Young Sports Ambassadors also presented the winner of the YSA cap design competition her very own cap! A great big thank you to Solent Sport who had the caps made in the winning design. These will be worn by the YSAs during duties and sports events at school.

'Hands on' with role-play in Year R!
In Year R, we are focusing on team building and imagination through 'hands on' role-play, where the children will help us to make the role-play, decide where to put the props and work together to act as characters and create stories.
The first role-play that the children decided to build was a 'Superhero Training' area. The children are working together to exercise and learn new skills!
