Year 6 Greek Myth Day!

Year 6 had a fantastic day creating and presenting story boxes based on Ancient Greek myths. Each group read a different story and then made props and puppets to help them retell it. They also drew story maps to help them learn the story. In the afternoon they shared their boxes with Year 5.

English Theme Day

Bitterne Manor took part in their FIRST 'English Theme Day' today! Children from across all year groups were engaged and engrossed in their learning throughout the WHOLE day, its been a real success! This day has hooked children in which will help stimulate their writing throughout this week.  I can't wait to see the writing outcomes :)

Year R and Year 2 visited Space today.  Year 2 used today to gather facts for an information booklet that they will create all about Space.  They are super eager to teach others about 'Space!'  They even went to Year R to teach them what they found out, it was very exciting! The Year R children shared their facts too! Year 1 were tale detectives today, on the hunt for a culprit who ate a part of the Gingerbread Man! My bet is on Mr Adams...I wonder where he was when it all happened? Hmmmm... good luck Year 1.  Year 3, 4, 5 and 6 have been busy making story boxes which will help them write their very own myths/legends! Your boxes look amazing, I can't wait to read your stories! All in all, a very eventful day... Well done everyone!

Here are some of the highlights from today that I managed to capture...

Year R Kingfishers English Wow day!

We started the day normally until we received a letter from Bob, the Man on the Moon! He asked us if we could travel to space to find out more about it for him!

We discussed what we already know and what we would like to find out. We also made our own space rockets and we spoke about how we made them and how we could make them even better!

Year 2 were brilliant at sharing their space facts with us. We then blasted off into space (Year 2 classroom became space for the day!) to find out even more!

We will now write down our facts and send them to Bob!

Year 4 - English WOW Day

In English over the past week, Rooks have been studying the Roman legend of Romulus and Remus.

Today, we have re-created the story of Romulus and Remus and the building of Rome as a 3D diorama story map.  Over the next week, we will use this story map to assist us in our retelling of this legend.

Working in small groups we divided the story into 9 different sections, with each group of three, taking a specific part of the story and representing it in their diorama.  Each group then identified key vocabulary, adjectives, adverbs and expanded noun phrases to assist others in the writing of their section.

This afternoon, we got the chance to share our 3D story map and practice the retelling of our story to Year 3.
