Rooks - Iron Man invades Bitterne Manor

This half term, Rooks have been studying The Iron Man by Ted Hughes.  As part of our cross-curricular work, Rooks have spent two days Building Iron Man suits as part of their Design and Technology unit.  As a class, we have learnt how to curve cardboard smoothly and the importance of creating joints to allow someone to move.  Over the two days, we have worked in teams to design our Iron Man suits, followed by our builds.  There has been a lot of cutting, sticking and team work!  As a result, 7 Iron Men and their supporters invaded every class in Bitterne Manor today.  Take a look at some of our photos.

Science Experiments Live!

Inspired by Science Week, we are very pleased to be sharing a link to a video presentation by a group of young scientists from our school. Despite their disguises, one or two do look very familiar...? Looks like great fun!

A chocolatey welcome!

Thank you so much to all the children for making me feel so welcome in year 3 today.  I have been looking forward to teaching again for some time and having a fantastic, chocolate filled maths lesson made the day even better.

We used the Easter eggs to practise our weighing and comparing skills (unfortunately we didnt practise our eating skills) and will continue with our Easter egg maths this week. I can't wait!

Team Zebra

Work begins on our Zebra! The final designs are now approved and being put into action by our Zebra Team. We'll update on progress as work continues...

Sport Relief 2016

The school was in action on Friday supporting Sport Relief by running their mile around the grounds in their teams. Here are a few pictures by our on the spot photographer. Thanks to Owls and Miss Cryne for organising the event.
