Switch Off Fortnight!

Over the next 2 weeks, we are taking part in Switch off Fortnight - aiming to save electricity (and money!) by ensuring that we are switching off our electronic devices when they are not in use.

The WOW reps will be monitoring this use in school time, and the most energy efficient class will be rewarded with certificates and stickers!

We are also asking for children to engage with the fortnight, if they wish, by producing posters, games, stories, powerpoints etc to show why it is so important to try and conserve energy - the best 10 will receive a special keyring :-)

SAM visits Bitterne Manor!

Something special happened today...SAM visited our school! He made a guest appearance at our gate congratulating children as they made their way in.  Definitely a more exciting face to see hey? Take a sneaky peek below at some of the children that he spotted and rewarded just for coming to school and on time!  You're definitely in his good books and Mr Adams of course. He was delighted that you all couldn't wait to get into school and start learning :)

Kestrels stand up to bullying!

In Kestrel class for 'Anti-bullying' week, we have created a handbook for parents on what bullying is; the different types of bullying that can occur; how to spot the signs your child may be being bullied; reasons why a child may bully and cyber bullying.  The children all put a lot of effort into their research, thinking carefully about their audience.  They chose how to organise and present their information in an appealing and informative way.  They did a great job and should have brought home tonight a copy of one of the two booklets that were created by the class.

As a class they also worked collaboratively on an anti-bullying themed rap, which they performed in this afternoon's Golden Book assembly.

Children in need- spot alert

Today for children in need we all came to school in our spotty best. We worked super hard at completing our anti bullying week learning. Don't we all look amazing.

An AED is a machine used to give an electric shock when a person is in cardiac arrest, i.e. when the heart stops beating normally. Cardiac arrest can affect people of any age and without warning. Anti bullying

Today we have been learning all about our words. We emptied the tooth paste tube of toothpaste. We imagined these were all the words we said in a day. We then had to use only a cotton bud to put the 'words' back. It was really hard and showed us that once we have said something we can not take it back.
