Nightingale's braced the weather and adventured to visit the HMS Victory. We had a fantastic time; we had the opportunity to dress up like a pirate, try different knots, look at the variety of food shipmen would eat and look at some interesting artefacts. Nightingale's then explored the ins and outs of the HMS victory, the children had a brilliant day and thoroughly enjoyed themselves.

Open as normal...
Thanks for your patience this morning with what was a very icy start to the day. We have opened and business is as usual despite the conditions.
We will be able to provide a meal this lunchtime despite the reduced lunch staff. As our meals are prepared elsewhere this is always a situation beyond our control. We have to be prepared for every eventuality.
Nightingales will also be on their way to Portsmouth Dockyard shortly as planned.
Obviously, conditions in and around school remain icy and children will be kept inside for the most part until they improve.
We will let you know if there are any updates or changes throughout the day.
On a personal note, our staff have done their very best to get the school up and running this morning and I would like to thank them for their efforts in making that happen.

School Is Open Today! Just!
We are opening as usual today but not without some complications.
While we have the majority of paths clear there are still some very icy patches so children will be straight inside.
Roads around school are not brilliant - please take care if you have to drive. Pavements are not great either!
We have the majority of staff in but some classes may need to be split.
There is currently a limited staffing at our off site kitchens - I am waiting for confirmation they are open. It might be sensible to bring a packed lunch please for today!
Lastly, we have a school trip to Portsmouth today which we are expecting to go ahead but are waiting on a second mini bus to arrive and to hear from the Dockyard itself about their staffing.
We will keep you posted!

Rooks' Science Week
Rooks started this Science Week with a bang! They were investigating forces during their flying mice experiment. Each child made and decorated their own mouse which they then tested to see whose would fly the highest.

As part of their science topic, they have also started to learn about electricity. In today's lesson they were creating their own simple circuits to make a bulb light up. Later, they experimented by adding different components to their circuits to see what could happen to the bulb. They have all had fun experimenting with new concepts and working scientifically.

Professor Ella...
More amazing Science from another of our talented 'professors'! Enjoy!
(ps There are a couple more episodes which we're trying to upload!)
Professor Mugridge...
Professor Mugridge and her assistant, Millie, have made another video for Science Week, this time inspired by Stephen Hawking. Enjoy!
Nightingale's Mirror Magic
Today, Nightingale's explored their understanding of how light travels and how it reflects off into objects, back into our eyes. We tested this knowledge with mirrors trying to follow a line going backwards!
