Letters and Sounds

This week we have begun learning the names of letters, and the sounds they make.  We have learnt action songs for each letter (you can find these on Youtube- Jolly Phonics song for letter s and a), and rhymes to help us form the letters correctly when writing (slither down the snake to form 's', and around the apple and down to leaf to form an 'a').  The class have really enjoyed this.  They have taken part in games where they have needed to run to a correct letter, other games where they have had to find objects (our treasure) beginning with a certain sound and other fun activities.

So far we have looked at 's' and 'a'.  The children have been given sheets showing how to correctly form these that should have gone home with them.  It would be really helpful and appreciated if you could spend a little bit of time at home looking at these.  Thank you!

Clean Air Project

This afternoon, Rooks were lucky enough to be joined by the My Journey team who ran a range of activities to help them understand the importance of helping to prevent air pollution. They designed badges and posters to help educate others on how they can help keep the air clean. Later, there was a chance to get involved in some role play to highlight ways they could help reduce air pollution by making better choices. The highlight was definitely the model lungs which showed how actively trying to reduce air pollution, could change the quality of air they are breathing in.

SENSATIONAL Skylarks get voting!

So yesterday Skylarks  voted for who they wanted to be their next Learning Leaders!

There was a lot of competition and some fantastic contenders. We listened to some wonderful speeches children had made over the weekend about the impact they wanted to have on the school. It was super to see the hard work they had put and how confidently they delivered their speeches!

Then Mrs Egerton arrived with the ballot box! Each member of Skylarks got two votes, including Miss Wyatt and Miss Bradley.

Not we wait in anticipation for Wednesdays assembly for the new Learning Leaders to be revealed!
