Mission Kestrels....

Kestrels have gone undercover today as MI6 agents!  They have assumed new names and identities and have disguised themselves in creative ways.  They have been interrogated, had their memories tested and their code-breaking skills put to the test.  They are remarkably good at keeping to their stories - lots of potential spies in the making!

Owls go back in time!

Last week, Owls class went an amazing trip to Winchester!
We got to explore the Great Hall and find out all about the different myths and legends from the period as well as the history of Winchester Castle.
We then went to Winchester Cathedral and were able to have our own tour of the building! We were able to explore where Saxon kings are buried and hear all about Saint Swithun.
It was a brilliant day and we all had so much fun!

It never rains but it pours...?

Apologies for the disruption on Friday afternoon but as you can see in the pictures, we had a bit of a problem above our front entrance. Hopefully, we'll be sorted soon but won't know for sure until it rains heavily again. That's not something we are looking forward to!

Team BMPS

Skylarks show off their MARVELLOUS musical talent!

A HUGE well done to Skylarks this morning! Their clarinet showcase was a great success.

The children have been working incredibly hard on their clarinet skills to give a wonderful performance and they did not disappoint! It made me so proud to see how far they had come and how they have learnt to be the best they can be.

Thank you so much to all the parents that came to watch! We hope you enjoyed it. Take a look below at some of the pictures of their magnificent musical display...

Fishbourne Palace

Today Year 4 enjoyed a trip to Fishbourne palace. They had the chance to see the remains of lots of Roman mosaics and take a stroll around the  palace garden. They also enjoyed a fun filled workshop with lots of different activities.

No idling outside school please!

If you’ve not seen our banner outside the school gates yet, the message is simple:

“Engines off so we don’t cough!”

This campaign is about respecting our children’s right to breath cleaner air. This applies to anywhere you have to wait and not just schools. On a public road, it indeed is illegal to sit in your car whilst keeping the engine running within the UK. The Highway Code states: 'You MUST NOT leave a parked vehicle unattended with the engine running or leave a vehicle engine running unnecessarily while that vehicle is stationary on a public road'.

Southampton City Council are currently consulting on a strategy for cleaner air in the City. You can find out more here: https://www.southampton.gov.uk/environmental-issues/pollution/air-quality/
The map below highlights the situation in our area:

This is also a national issue and here is a link to an article on air pollution on the BBC yesterday: 'Our children are suffocating'

So please reflect on your own car use and let's not add to the air pollution that NHS reports say cause up to 40,000 premature deaths per year in the UK.
