Maths problem solving for Kestrels

Today we eased ourselves back into maths with a little practical problem solving.  It really got our brains thinking and reminded us of some of our number facts: multiples, factors and square numbers.  The children showed great resilience as well as logic and collaboration.  A super way to recap some of our school learning behaviours.  Well done Kestrels!

A MASSIVE WELL DONE to our Kingfishers

We had an amazing day back in Kingfisher Class.  We cannot believe how well the children came in and settled into their routines.  Well done Kingfishers.

We had a busy day revisiting 'The Colour Monster'.  The children talked about some of the emotions they can feel, such as sadness, anger and nervousness.  As a class we came up with different strategies to try to deal with these, such as taking deep breaths, counting, finding someone to talk to, and taking part in exercise.

We also made sensory bottles for the different colour emotions in the book.

The children really enjoyed being back and playing together.  This is what else they got up on on their first day back!

Welcome back Kestrels!

It was fantastic to have our Kestrels back in school today! Everyone was excited to be back and see each other again. We spent some time discussing our lockdown experiences, how we'd found remote learning and also talking about what we were looking forward to now. Everybody completed a 'Blob Tree' by reflecting on their feelings at different times during lockdown.

The children all received their own brand new book as a result of the Great Wall of China challenge and were keen to get reading. What a great start to the week!

Coronavirus: returning to school – a guide for parents and carers

Learning Consultancy UK have put together a guide explaining the actions parents and caregivers can take to minimise the risk of Covid-19 virus transmission as children return to school across the UK.  The guide also includes advice on supporting children and young people's mental health and wellbeing.  This can be found on the school website using the link below:

We have also added some information on the Covid vaccination and test and trace guidance, which has been translated into different languages.  This information can be found here:

Jays are celebrating International Womens' Day

Good Morning and a massive welcome back!

It has been wonderful to see the children coming back into our classroom today with such an enormous smile on their faces. They have been happy, enthusiastic and excited to be returning to school and seeing their friends.

As today is International Womens' Day, we are talking about some of the wonderful things women have done.

Here are some of the things we would like to go on to achieve... (Please note, Mrs Lee was not paid to write what she did on her whiteboard...!)

Final Home Learning Projects by Kestrels

To round off our work on The Ancient Greeks, Kestrels were asked to research and put together a presentation about one of their many legacies.  Take a look at some of the fabulous work they have produced.  We are hugely impressed by the high standard of work you keep on producing, Kestrels... right to the very end of lockdown!  Superstars!
