Jays take a look at their finances!
Today, our class had a visit from HSBC Bank who taught us about finances such as cash, debit and credit cards and how to make wise decisions with spending. They got to prepare a rucksack (on paper!) for a trip to Antarctica and discussed the meaning of the words 'need' and 'want' to identify what to bring with them to fit their budget.

Swifts are learning all about... MOVERS AND SHAKERS!
Swifts have really enjoyed learning all about our new topic... Movers and Shakers! This teaches us all about historical figues who have had a major impact on our lives!
To start the year, we first looked at Neil Armstrong and the first steps he took on the moon! The children loved immersing themselves in activites which supported their understanding of this historical figure. We imagined what it would be like to walk on the moon, role played the moon landing, filled our brains with space facts from our topic books and drew our own versions of the moon landing!
Our second famous face was Christopher Columbus! Swifts loved learning all about his adventures around the world and his incredible discoveries of new countires! They loved learning about the items he brought back to Europe... parrots, pineapples and CHOCOLATE!
