Kingfishers Explore Swanwick Lake!

Kingfishers had the most amazing time visiting and exploring Swanwick Lake!

The children got to have a chance at pond dipping and see what insects live in the pond.

Some of the children found some flat worms, damselfly nymph and some children even found  tadpoles!

After having a busy time pond dipping we then went on a minibeast hunt up in the woodlands area.

We found some wiggly worms, stag beetles, woodlouse and spiders!

After lunch off we went up to the meadow to use our senses with some activities. We use our ears to listen to see what we could hear in the meadow. After we were given the challenge to see if we could find different things using our sense touch. Lastly we got to make some potions and see how they smelt!

A very ROYAL day in Swifts!

What a fantastic day we have had!

Thankyou for all your support today, the children looked amazing and we have had a very 'royal' day!

Here is a short video to showcase what we have done.

A very ROYAL day in Swifts!

Swifts have had a WONDERFUL day immersing ourselves in our new summer topic… MAGNIFICENT MONARCHS!

The class room was decorated with flags and bunting and the children arrived at school dressed as Kings and Queens!

We started our day by drawing our own royal portraits which linked to our art topic. The children loved using their artistic skills to add detail and shading to their artwork.

After playtime, Swifts learnt how to Waltz! It was wonderful to see the children dancing so beautifully to the music!

We finished off our day by making and enjoying our very own afternoon tea! The children enjoyed jam sandwiches and scones!

Take a look at the pictures below to see a snap shot of the fun we have had…

Kestrels visit the Bitterne Manor War Museum

Kestrels had a great afternoon exploring our very own war museum to start our new topic 'Britain at war'. We had lots of fun trying on uniforms, looking at old photos and documents and getting hands on with some replica WW2 items, such as gas masks. We are all really excited to find out more about our topic this term!
