Beautiful textile work from kestrels...

Kestrels have completed their final DT project - making memory cushion covers. They have demonstrated superb sewing skills appliquing the front of their cushions and then enjoyed getting friends to sign the backs of them as a memento of their time at BMPS.  😍

Butterfly Fundraiser - Friends of Bitterne Station

Dear parents and carers,

You might have seen a colourful butterfly on your walk to school (footbridge between Quayside Road and Athlestand Road). This is the work of artists Joanna Rose Tidey, the first of 11 artworks to appear in our community in the next ten months as part of a community art project led by Friends of Bitterne Station (FoBS) and funded by South West Railways Community Improvement funds.

While the SWR funds cover the costs of Joanna's work and materials, FoBS have started a fundraiser to buy anti-graffiti paint to cover Joanna's work so that they will not get damaged (read more here:http://www.cobbettroad.info/nature-all-around-us.html). Many local families have already contributed by sponsoring a small butterfly.

For £10 you can sponsor a small butterfly on the long wall by Joanna's mural, choose the colours and have your initials (or the one of a dear one) added.

If you would like to sponsor a butterfly, email bitternestationhub@gmail.com
They are collecting requests until Tuesday18th of July to add more butterflies next week.
Or you can visit them at Bitterne Station this Sunday (10 am-12) and you can make your donation then.

Thank you for your support,
Friends of Bitterne Station

Amazing artwork in Kestrels!

Kestrel class are thoroughly enjoying their art topic 'Bees, beetles and butterflies' and have produced some absolutely brilliant work based on this theme. They have learnt how to use a sketchbook to explore the visual qualities of insects, made detailed observational drawings and studied the work of artist Lucy Arnold. They have also explored printmaking techniques.

Here are just a few examples of their fabulous work!

Kingfishers to Robins in a day!

It was an exciting day across BMPS today as classes met their new teachers and went into their new classrooms. The current Rocking Robins class went up to Swifts and I welcomed the new Rocking Robins of 2023-2024.

They all got a taste of what it would be like when moving up to the Robins class in September and thoroughly enjoyed the activities. We looked at 'The Colour Monster' which they know well and will be a focus for us in the Autumn Term. They showed off their creative skills when decorating their own monster brilliantly! I was really impressed 😀

As well as this, we shared a story and had a lovely afternoon enjoying some 'Rainbow time!' How super!

Here's a sneak peek of what they got up to...

Thank you for being such superstars ⭐
I can't wait for you to be in the Rocking Robins class in September!

Swift's royal visit to Portchester Castle!

Swift class had a fantastic time yesterday on our school trip to Portchester Castle! It was fantastic to explore the grounds of the well preserved structures of the castle. The children loved learning about the historic events that took place here! Take a peak below at the pictures which show what we got up to...
