Able Writers' Day

A group pf Year 5 and 6 children were lucky enough to spend a day working with poet Roger Stevens and children from 4 other Southampton schools. Throughout the day, Roger taught them how to write and improve poetry. During the afternoon everybody made their own tiny, one page poetry book which they had signed!

Football Tournament

Well Done to year 3 and 4 children who have represented Bitterne Manor very well in their first ever tournament. Both teams finished mid-table and showed excellent sportsmanship and team work.
We would also like to say a massive THANKYOU to the PTA for our smart new green football kits.

Year 6 Potters!

As part of our topic 'Groovy Greeks' we have been learning about Ancient Greek pottery. We have been making our own small-scale coil pots in the style of the Ancient Greeks. When they are dry, we will decorate them with typical colours and patterns.

Year 1 enjoy Manor Farm!

Year 1 spent the day at Manor Farm and had the chance to learn interesting facts about the animals. We milked a cow and stroked lots of different animals. We even named a newborn lamb and decided on the name Rose! We also looked around an old Victorian house and did some washing and drying using a washboard and a mangle, the children were very good at this! We then lined up to enter the strict Victorian school room with Miss Stubbs, she was very stern and checked how clean our hands were and would not let us sit down until she said! The children responded well but were glad it was only role play! Thank you to all of the adults for your help! We will share our photos and recounts at our assembly at 9am on Wednesday 28th March. Well done Year 1!

Year 5 visit Pizza Hut

This week, year 5 had the opportunity to visit Pizza Hut and make an individual pizza to bring back to school! Whilst we were there, we were given a tour of the restaurant and kitchens. We were then taught how to make a pizza, pizza hut style! It was lots of fun and the classroom smelt delicious for the rest of the day! Since our trip, we have used our experiences to write some instructions and we are really looking forward to inviting the parents to our own cafe on Wednesday 21st March!
