Annie!

Here are a couple of pictures from this year's leavers production: Annie. One of the great things about the end of the Summer term is the superb Year 6 production. This year is no different and builds on the recent success of  Grease and Bugsy by taking on a well known musical and giving it the Year 6 treatment! We think the shows keep getting better and better - we hope you enjoyed it, too! Thanks to all those who helped and supported but especially to Year 6 and their director, Mrs Hemnell.

Olympic Torch

The Year R children were very excited to have a close up look at an Olympic torch!  Thank you very much to Mr Goodwin.

Southampton City School Sports Awards

Bitterne Manor football team were invited to the first annual City Sports Awards to receive recognition for their win in the Solent University Boys Tournament. Former footballers Francis Benali and Darren Curtis congratulated the teams at this prestigious event.

Olympic Torch in School.

As most of you will already know, the Olympic torch made it's way through Southampton over the weekend. We were very lucky to have Chris Goodwin, one of the torch bearers, bring his torch into school to show us all in assembly. Chris was very proud to have been chosen and shared his thoughts and feelings with us about the privilege of carrying the torch through the city. It was fascinating to hear him talk about it and we learnt a lot about the flame and the torch. You can still see Chris and the torch making its way through Southampton on the Olympic website.

Summer Fair Success!

We would like to thank all of you who made our Summer Fair a success last Friday. We managed to raise over a thousand pounds to support the school! The PTA and helpers did an amazing job organising the fair and it was brilliant to see so many people come along. Thanks to all those who helped before, during and after by setting up, running stalls and tidying up afterwards!

(I would also like to extend a special thanks to all those who put cash in my bucket resulting in the picture to the left...)

RE days

The whole school recently took part in a Barnabas RE day, where we all completed activities to explore how the Olympic sporting values can be seen through the eyes of faith and belief. This year we have also been lucky to have RE based days led by the Southampton City Mission team. Year 1 and 2 spent the day listening to stories and finding out about light and Christianity. We made our own candles and lighthouses. Thank you City Mission for your fantastic RE days.
