Year 3 - Moving Dragons!

Year 3 having been studying 'How to train a Dragon' and now have a moving dragon as a pet to take home!

We have used our DT skills to design and make moving dragons. Children understand how to use pneumatics to create moving mouths on their dragons. Watch out some have very sharp teeth!

Year 3 and 4 Creation Day with Southampton City Mission

Year 3 and 4 were really excited to see Chris and his team from Southampton City Mission for our Creation RE day and they were not disapointed.

We all had great fun discussing creation and thinking about how we can look after our world.

During the afternoon we all created our ideal school.

Year 3 - Myths and Legends

Year 3 have had great fun studying Myths and Legends!

We enjoyed reading George and the Dragon and then writing our very own Legends.

We all enjoyed, role play and drama during our Dragon's topic and this gave us so many new ideas and great words for our writing.

Big thank you to all the parents who helped us with our costumes you are stars!

Thank you to year 1 who came to our class so we could share our writing. We were all really proud of our books!

School Council - Busy, busy, busy!!

The School Council has been very busy over the past few weeks sharing ideas to make the school playareas even better with the rest of the school.

Mrs Rice joined a School Council meeting today to discuss the school's ideas for the Keyhole area as well as other outside areas. The minutes from this meeting will be on display on the School Council Noticeboard, along with an agenda for the next meeting.

If you are interested in reading the minutes from previous meetings, please ask any of the School Councillors or Mrs Mitchell. Also if you have any ideas you would like to bring to the Council's attention, you can add them to our 'Ideas Box' or let one of the Councillors know.

Thanks for your support!

Support for helping with reading....

Following our recent appeal for support with reading in our March newsletter, we thought we would share this comment from one of our amazing helpers....

'One of the best moments I had in school recently was watching a class assembly and witnessing certain children reading passages out loud with expression in front of their peers and parents, knowing that six months previously, this was something they were unable to do. They had made so much progress that reading was now something they enjoyed and found effortless. I smiled to myself, thinking that my weekly Friday morning visits listening to children of all abilities may have made a difference. It takes 90 minutes out of my busy working week but I really look forward to coming. The children are forever asking if it's their turn to read and I love the conversations we have about the stories and the ideas they come up with. The staff are so appreciative that I come. It's great for me. It helps me understand a bit more about school life and how I can my help my children at home more effectively. Please consider volunteering because everybody wins especially the children.'
