Each week this half term Kingfishers are learning about a different country. This week we travelled to London to find our friend Barnaby Bear and to learn all about our capital city.
We looked at where London is compared to Southampton, and discussed the best way to travel there. The class thought we should go by train. We needed to buy our train tickets and find our correct seat numbers on the train. Once in London we visited all the different landmarks and find out about the Royal family and the National Anthem.

Skylarks, Nightingales and Rooks have a visit from MyBnk
Yesterday Skylarks, Nightingales and Rooks were lucky enough
to participate in their first work shop by MyBnk.
Mr Franklin came into our school to teach us how to become
‘Super Savers’ and the benefits of saving money! We looked at different methods
of helping us save money and the children used their incredible team work
skills to role play different scenarios, and showcase what they have learnt in
today’s session.
Mr Franklin was blown away by the children’s enthusiasm
towards the workshops and the fantastic discussions that were happening in the
sessions.
This is the first of three workshops to be taking place in
school and we are looking forward to the next one in two weeks’ time!

Pupil's computing projects featured in national computing magazine
'Hello World' - a free magazine for computing educators has just released its Spring Term issue, featuring an article I have written about combining Sketchup (3D design) with Scratch (coding) to create a project I call 'ScratchUp!'
The three page spread features screenshots from projects belonging to pupils at Bitterne Manor Primary School, the first school to trial 'ScratchUp!'
You can download the whole magazine below, the article is on page 70.
It goes without saying that I am super proud of the pupils in this school, they are taking part in some really ground breaking computing projects! Watch this space for more...

SENSATIONAL SKYLARKS and their Times Table Trophies!
Skylarks have started the new term off to a fantastic start! We have begun the challenge to collect all the Times Tables Trophies and they have already successfully collected their first! Each week children will be challenging themselves to complete their times tables and earn themselves a certificate!
I'm sure Skylarks will be FLYING through their tables as we started from the beginning this week with our 1 times table which everyone completed! We are onto our 2 times table next week!
Well done Skylarks! :)

Nightingales dive into Bug Club
Nightingales spent some time this morning working together to explore and have fun on BugClub! It is safe to say that they thoroughly enjoyed it and it was lovely to see such engagement with their reading and such smiley faces whilst doing it! Well done Nightingales, keep flying high!
