Kingfishers have had a fantastic day celebrating the Queen's Platinum Jubilee.
They took part in many activties, inlcuding making some fantastic crowns.
We read the book 'The Queen's Hat' and looked at a variety of different hats, discussing when we would wear each one. Some of the children then designed their own hats.
Other children enjoyed using playdough and other materials to make some 'Royal' cupcakes for an afternoon tea!
We looked at some coins and discussed how the Queen's head is always on our money. Our Kingfishers enjoyed making some crayon rubbings of these and using their fine motor skills to fill in a silhouette of the Queen with our copper coins.
Over the last few days we have also been discussing London and some of its' famous land marks. We read 'Pussy cat, pussy cat, where have you been?' and discussed the different places and the maps inside the book. The children then enjoyed making their own maps of London, incorporating some of the land marks we had been thinking about.
