Terrific Tudor House Trip!

Last week, the Rocking Robins class enjoyed a trip out to the Tudor House in Southampton. It linked in well with their topic which is all about childhood and the past.

First, they began their trip with a tour of the Tudor House and Gardens where a tour guide told them lots of interesting facts. They looked around different parts of the House and had fun exploring.

Next, the Rocking Robins eagerly took part in a 'Toys' workshop where they looked at toys from the past. They held them, played with them and closely looked at the way that they had been made. They could pick their favourite one from the different boxes available and draw it on their sheet provided. It was a lovely blast from the past seeing some of the toys for the grown ups for sure!

Once the workshop ended, it was time for lunch (something that the whole class were very excited about) After this, the class split off into their groups and ventured off to see the house in detail. The interactive show was a big hit for some of them!

Here's a snippet of what the class got up to...

Year 1's TERRIFIC Tudor House trip!

The ROCKING Robins visited the Tudor House yesterday and had such a fabulous time. We travelled back in time and learnt lots about one of Southampton's most historic buildings. Full of excitement, we all set off on our trip to the Tudor House with the help of Mr Finn who drove us down on the school minibus. This was so much fun!

Arriving at the house, we waited until the whole class was together before heading into the House. We were greeted by our tour guide for the morning who taught us lots of interesting facts about the Tudor House and Garden. Eagerly, we followed him whilst he showed us lots of fascinating places and rooms.

After this, he led us to an education room where we took part in an interactive workshop all about... TOYS! This was very exciting as we've been learning all about toys from the past at school as it's part of our 'Childhood' topic. We were shown some of the clothes from the past and some of us got to try some on. As well as this, we looked at some old toys that even Miss Sangha and the other adults recognised from their childhood. Take a peek below...

Thankfully, it was time for lunch (we were beginning to feel rather peckish) We enjoyed sitting with our friends and eating yummy food.

Shortly after, we were allowed to explore the House and Garden. We all had such a lovely time!

Miss Sangha then rounded us all up. We ended our trip by watching a mysterious show all about the history of the Tudor House. It was one of the highlights of our trip!

Finally, we headed back to school, made our way to our classroom and flopped onto the carpet. It's safe to say that the day had been a tiring one but definitely a great one!

Until next time... 😊
