Year R went on a bear hunt!

As part of our 'Bears' topic, Year R have been looking at the story 'We're going on a bear hunt'. After reading this book we decided to act it out by going on our very own bear hunt! The class found themselves walking through swishy swashy grass, a deep cold river, thick oozy mud, a deep dark forest and a swirly whirly snow storm! Who would have guessed after all of that we would then find a bear in a cave? What an adventure!

Year 6 artists!

Year 6 have been learning about the woodprints created by Japanese artist Hokusai. After having a go at re-creating some of his work, the children worked together on a whole class version of his famous work 'The Great Wave of Kanagawa'. Each person took a small section of the picture to paint. Our challenge was then to put the pieces back together to make 'the wave' - this was really tricky!

Year 4 Acting Out!

Year 4 have been acting out the story of Romulus and Remus as part of their topic work. They are using the story to write playscripts which will be performed at the end of the week.

Year 4 - 3D Shape Week!

Year 4 have been finding out about 3D shape this week. They made their own shapes out of plasticine and had to find a partner and play the 'yes/no' game, talking about the properties of a shape, to try and guess what shape they had. There were some very tricky shapes to guess!
They also used the shapes they had made to complete information sheets around the classroom.

Friday Assemblies

Pupils receiving their Golden Book Award during a Friday assembly. As you can see, our celebrations are now being supported by lots of parents who are able to come and see their children receive their award!

Masterchef

Here are the children learning about best before and use by dates as part of their 'Masterchef' university course on Friday afternoon! They quickly managed to spot the 10 year out of date bottle of vinegar we found in the staffroom!

Year 1 and 2 Fire Engine visit!

Year 1 and 2 enjoyed a visit from the Fire Service this half term! We were able to play a game which involved learning about fire and road safety, listened to a safety story and even had the chance to dress up in fire coats and go in the fire engine! Everyone enjoyed using the hose pipe to knock down the fire sign!
