Year 5 creativity in RE

This half term, year 5 are learning about the Jewish festival of Sukkot. We have been learning about some of the rituals that take place during Sukkot, and have been creating out own sukkot shelters using art straws. As you can see we had lots of fun!

Year 5 space scientists

Year 5 have been trying to prove that the earth spins on its axis. In order to do this we have been studying the movement of shadows. We went into the school playground and measured our shadows at different points during the day to see what happened. We found out that the shadows were moving gradually from west to east throughout the day, so the earth must be moving!

Tesco Vouchers Reminder

We have been busty collecting thousands of vouchers for schools over the last few weeks - thank you! Please remember to bring them into the school office when you can. This Friday is the last day to pick up vouchers for schools and we need to be counting them and sending them off by the end of June at the latest!

Year 4 at Fairthorne Manor

The children all dared to complete all the challenges and activities at Fairthorne activity centre last week. From speeding along the heights of the zip wire, climbing and abseiling to working together in teams to complete a muddy yet exciting obstacle challenge. The children WOW'd us with their talents such as dancing at the disco and amazing card tricks. The adults were proud of excellent behaviour and impeccable manners.

Groovy Greek Day!

Year 6 ended their topic of Ancient Greece with a themed day. Everyone looked fantastic in their costumes and enjoyed taking part in their dance based on 'Theseus and the Minotaur' and theatre performances of Greek myths. The Olympic Games were held in the afternoon and winners were crowned in many events, including the relay, javelin and chariot racing! After the Games a feast was held with foods similar to those eaten in Ancient Greece for everyone to try. What a great day!

Year R transport models and Spring Hunt

Thank you to all those parents and family members who joined Year R for their Spring Hunt. The children collected objects and materials that remind them of Spring. Year R also enjoyed showing their visitors their own transport models.

Year 4 Nature trail

Over the past two weeks year 4 have been working really hard to create their own nature trails around the field for year 1 to complete. They designed every part of the nature trails themselves, including creating their own sign posts on the laptops, selecting the stops around the field and marking them on maps of the field. They created their own questions, designed activities and created information points for year 1 to enjoy. http://
Although it was a very wet day, year 1 had a lot of fun completing the nature trails and year 4 really enjoyed making them. Thank you so much year 1 for helping us!
