Speedstacks competition

Bitterne Manor and Bassett Green took part in a Speedstacks competition in which there were split seconds difference in the results. Well done all children that took part.

Year 1 as Superheroes!

Year 1 have been very busy training to be Superheroes! We had lots of different Superheroes in class today from Spiderman to Doctor Who! We had fun learning about different Superheroes and the different powers and had the chance to test them out by completing lots of different missions! Year 1 did a great job at rescuing and protecting people! Thank you to Year 6 for helping. We also explored different movements to music and acted out a story as a Superhero. Finally we made up our own missions, masks, wanted posters and lots of props for our new role-play! Well done Superheroes, mission accomplished! Keep up the great work. :)

New Parasols!

We would like to thank the PTA for our wonderful new parasols. These now give us better shade outside for quiet work spaces and picnic lunches.

Amazing Architects

Year 6 have begun designing a new building for Quayside Road. After making a plan of the land use on the street and surveying friends and family, the groups have come up with interesting plans to develop the area! They will soon be ready to make small-scale models of their designs. We will keep you posted as their work progresses!

Year 1!

Year 1 spent their first week back after 1/2 term by finishing our topic 'Queens, Wolves and Trolls'. We began the week by exploring changes by looking at how we have changed and what will continue to change. We discussed ideas in groups and presented these to the class. Other activites during the week included carrying out a survey to see how much litter is in our school grounds as well as having fun with percussion instruments in music! Year 1 have also enjoyed our fairy tale castle role-play during this topic!

We look forward to our next topic 'Superheros!' Please come to school dressed as a Superhero on Tuesday 14th June. I look forward to seeing lots of Superheros in Year 1!

Y3 become pirates!

Year 3 began their new topic by learning 'How to be a Pirate'. There was the learning of new pirate words, the singing of sea shanties, a quiz to find out what they already knew about pirates, some map reading and pirate maths.
In the afternoon, the pirates practised tying knots, making pirate maps (for themselves and the PTA) sketching, and puzzles. After reading about Jolly Rogers, they formed teams to make their own flag designs by using natural materials found round the school grounds. From the photos, you'll see what a great job they did!
Great fun was had by all AND you all looked fantastic! Welcome aboard, me hearties. We've got some amazing adventures planned for you this term. Signed ... Captain Teach.

A message from the Maasi

Our Maasi friends have sent us some new photographs of school and village life for us to share.

We have recently contacted Grosper who has identified a boy in his school that Bitterne Manor Primary will sponsor. The boy is called Mpanda, he has 18 months left in secondary school and needs our help as his own parents died and he cannot support himself financially. We will hopefully receive a letter from him soon and it would be great if any of our children would like to write to him.
