Year 4 visit Fishbourne

Year 4 recently visited Fishbourne Roman Palace. We began by learning about who lived in the palace as it grew in size over the years. Then the class learnt new skills - how to spin wool, work out numbers on a wax tablet, make a mosaic, write in Latin, play Roman games and we even practiced kitchen skills. Some of the class dressed up too. We visited the museum and gardens and were wowed by amazing mosaics - we all had our favourites. After an eventful day, it was a quiet drive back to school. It was certainly a day to remember!

Football U11s Tournament

Bitterne Manor Played 7 games in the Southampton Schools tournament at Wide Lane On Monday. They were very strong winning 4 games, drew 1 and lost 2. Missing only 1 point to go through the the semis. A great start boys, we are very proud.

Rock n Roll creativity!

Year 5 have been working hard on their life-sized rock n roll fashion projects this week! They have researched the clothes worn during the 1950's and have used their research to inspire their own rock n roll creations!

This week we also went to Bitterne Park School as part of our rock n roll topic! We recorded our own version of Jailhouse Rock and learnt how a recording studio works! Our song will hopefully be ready to post soon!

Our Praise Board

Here is a picture of our 'Praise Board'! Each week, children can add anyone to the board who has helped them or shown some kindness to others. Our school councillors then choose names from the board and those children will get a special mention in assemblies.

Election Day!

Last Friday saw Bitterne Manor go to the polls for the election of this year's school council. All candidates had spent their week making speeches and canvassing for votes but in the end it all comes down to the ballot box! The votes are in and the election results will be announced shortly. Two councillors will be elected from each class. Well done to all those candidates who stood for election.
