Year 4s project work
Gosh, we've been busy this term with our project work.
First the children worked in groups to design and create a 3D Iron Man model. These also needed to have light up eyes and a moving part! The models looked fabulous. Well done everyone!
Next, we've begun working on our Christmas cushion project. The children created some eye-catching designs and are currently working hard sewing it all together. I'm very grateful to those parents who've given up their afternoons to help! The photo just shows a sample of our cushions. More details to follow about the cushion sale.
Switch Off Fortnight!
We are now half way through 'Switch Off Fortnight' and our Eco-Schools monitors have been busy making sure everything is turned off when it's not being used.
Each class is awarded a 'squirrel' token when their class is monitored and they have saved energy by not leaving things turned on! We hear that Year 4 are doing well...
We hope that some of the children bring the message home about using energy wisely and think about how we can all help to save!

Journeys with Steve Porter
Our school hall is being taken over by the artist Steve Porter. He's working today and tomorrow with groups of children from each class to create a massive mural. The mural is based on the theme of journeys and the ideas are all the children's own.
When finished, the mural will be used to decorate our school hall - it should look amazing!
Here is Steve explaining his ideas to a group of artists about to make their contribution.

Into the rainforest...
Today, year 5 went to the rainforest. We found a peacock, a goliath bird eating spider, toucans, an ocelot, snakes and a chameleon, as well as many others! We made our own journals! In them, we put our animal checklists, some poems, a diary and we drew some pictures of our adventures! We also drew maps of the routes we could take around the school on our rainforest trek in search of the animals! We are looking forward to tomorrow's adventures!

PTA Disco Fun!
The children had a great time at the PTA disco and were very impressed with the glow in the dark glasses and bunny ears!
Many thanks to all the helpers who made the evening such a success!
